Dismantled's (http://www.dismantled.org) indie side project, Aerodrone, (http://www.aerodrone.com) have decided to govern their band directly to that of The Wonders, the band portrayed in the film That Thing You Do. They have mimicked the film by firing two original members and replacing them with new members. Then followed by playing a gig a a talent show and a pizzeria. With that, all band decisions will now be consistent with that of the film, including gigs and events.

..huh?

Coincidences? Or is this a joke? Or is this planned?

Don't they know they'll end up with their drummer sitting alone in a studio, failing to make an album after riding the success of one song?

I think it will go either of two ways:

1) Be hugely popular
or
2) Not many people will really give a shit and it will die in the butthole.

Yeah, I know it sounds bizarre but we were actually movie buffs before we were ever in this band. So, we figured why not try to integrate 2 of our passions into one endeavor. It's kind of a weird aspiration, we will admit, but we didn't wanna do the standard cover or tribute band thing.

It's been hard to keep everyone on the same page though. Our original bassist resented being referred to impersonally as "The Bass Player" - but that's how it was in the movie so whatever. I was like watch it again man, they never actually say his name.

As a mini update - we've pooled our money and signed an agreement to record "Built-In," our hand clapping song, on analogue tape at a little old church in Goshen, Oregon.
