HOMESTEAD, Pa.


The new 50 Cent movie "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" has been pulled from a theater where a man was fatally shot even though officials said Thursday they do not know whether the film was a factor in the slaying.

Loews Corp. decided to stop showing the rapper's bullet-ridden bio while the investigation is going on, said John McCauley, the company's vice president of marketing.

"We're unclear whether there is a direct connection," McCauley said.

He said the company is doing all it can to make sure patrons are safe at the 22-screen multiplex in a popular entertainment-and-shopping complex just east of Pittsburgh.

Shelton Flowers, 30, had just watched the rapper's movie Wednesday when he got into a confrontation with three men in the bathroom. A fight ensued and spilled out into the concessions area, where Flowers was shot, police said.

Authorities were looking for witnesses, and no suspects were immediately arrested.

this movie was actually pretty impressive. i was very surprised. it's directed by Jim Sheridan, whose done some of the finest films of the last two decades. he does a wonderful job with this story, without going over the top.

im hard pressed to find a better actor than Daniel Day Lewis. Daniel Day Lewis' finest films were My Left Foot and In The Name Of The Father. these two, along with In America and The Field and The Boxer are some of the most underrated movies out there. i can see that they're not that popular, though. you're right there.

i went to a football game yesterday - royal palm beach vs palm beach lakes. i've never seen so many cops @ one game. Last year I went to Royal Palm vs Wellington and there were about 25 fights. It is fucking stupid.

i saw this in my newspaper the other day and i think it's more than retarded...

i doubt the argument had anything to do with the movie...

it really bothers me that people blame violence on movies/music when its upto people to make their own decisions...

i'd be pissed if i lived around there and they banned a movie for a dumb reason like this...and even by them banning it, it's just going to give the movie more hype and give a million more 13 y/o's a reason to run and see it...

It always bugged me when movies got in trouble for the viewers who watch them's actions. I'd hate to think that if I did something wrong, the creator of the DVD in my computer when they confiscate it might get blamed for causing me to flip out, just because I forgot to hit eject.

I just realized that this took place at the theatre I have been to several times. Its a nice theatre at one of the better malls in Pittsburgh. Lame. Apparently after this in a another theatre somewhere, there was a 100 person brawl after a 9 pm showing. 50 should get an award for how he has advanced the status of black americans.
