so, i was talking to a friend. we got around to meds we had to take and she mentioned that she was on the pill. now, i know that she has had sex before but from my knowledge, she is not active sexually right now. what im getting at is that it shocked me that she was on the pill. she says its for if she gets drunk at a party and something happens. am i being stupid to think that its odd? to me it makes her say that she is available.

Yeah, the are other reasons for her to be on it. For cycle irregularities, and it also helps with ovarian cysts, and just stuff that kind of messes with your ovaries. Thats why I was on it for awhile, but once the problem was better they took me off. So its not uncommon for her to be taking it for alternative reasons.

My idea is she thinks it sounds cool to tell people she's on the pill for that reason. Like the others have said, it can be for many things, including getting rid of acne, and its possible her doctor put her on it for one of these reasons, other than 'getting drunk at a party and something happening..' Please...

Yeah man, I have a 17-year old sister who was recently put on the pill and we're really close with one another and I know that she's not sexually active. She was put on it for ovarian cists. From my understanding, it's very common for many women to be on birth control when it's not for sexual reasons. It sounds like your friend might have given you one reason when there could have been several others that might have required a more personal or lengthy explanation. She's probably got her priorities straight.

yea, a lot of people who have bad cramps get put on it. I told my dad I might need the Pill and he nearly crashed the car, it was pretty funny...most people think its just to prevent pregnancy.

there are many other reason, like the people above mentioned, to be taking the pill. But the fact that she, herself thought about it that way, yes that makes it weird and fucked up.

yeah girls def. get on the pill for a lot of different reasons...i've been on and off it for like 2 or 3 years now...its good for cramps and all thats stuff but i'm def worried about the long run...

i heard [not really sure if this is true or not] that if you're on the pill for a long time that it can be hard to get pregnant when you want to...and i heard stuff about getting cancer from it down the line...

hah i also heard that getting on and off it a lot can make you more fertile? eh who knows...
