The Following is taken from the chats section of Taking Back Sunday (www.takingbacksunday.com)'s website regarding the new album.
Afilio asks....
Q: Well first Id just like to say the chorus of error operater is bitchin, I totally love the pounding bass line (atta boy matt) the pounding drums as well, the vocals, the guitar the whole song is good, the chorus is amazing in my opion though well done! Ok I was just curious how the new album is coming, what type of stuff is really influencing you making the new songs? music, news, books, movies, ect? Also what can we expect from the new cd? thanks a shitload for your time guys, You've been my favorite band for quite some time now. You seem like really rad and down to earth people, thanks for being real.
MATT answers:
thanks for your kind words. we re-recorded error operator for the next album and added some special little treats to it making it even better in our minds. the new record sounds like this: WEEEE WEEEEE BING BANG BONG!!! REE NEE NEE REE NEE NEE DUBBA DUBBA TING TANG WEEEEEEEEE DAA DAAAAAAHHHHHH! YEAH!!!
seriously though a great man once said writing about music is like dancing about architecture. but i will answer you best i can.
As we've said before, each of us is into different kinds of music so our influences vary greatly; and in the middle of all of that is how we develop our sound. We are very excited about this next album and we are still hard at work on it. It will be our most Rock-sounding and most diverse record yet. i personally would like to compliment my brothers in TBS for each doing their best playing and writing to date. we feel like we have taken another natural step forward in the growth of our band and we hope all of you will take that step with us. we have made another TAKING BACK SUNDAY album. We are dying to play shows again and play our new songs for you.

GREAT.
A re-recording of Error Operator. The song's pretty good, but I'd like to hear new stuff.

Especially since they're only going to put like 10 songs on the cd like they always do, which is incredibly lame.

well i dunno, maybe hypocritical isnt the right word for what im trying to say but its the closest i can think of... i mean its like everytime he has something he absolutely loves he tells us all over and over and over again how good it is and how we should like it, then the second someone disagrees over one song hes right there to argue it. now hes ready dismiss tbs after not liking error operator??? thats just i guess hypocritical to me...i mean regardless of whether he likes tbs or not. its not really the point, if he doesnt like it then fine i dont care, i just think that statement from him wasnt right.

Why are they putting Error Operator on in the first place? I mean, they left off Your Own Disaster off TAYF, and Follow The Format off WYWTB? 2 great demos and they put their shitty single for a shitty movie on the record.

I think Error Operator is absolutely horrendous, so that's ONE song I know I'll hate... so statistically speaking, it's a fact that I will like this album less than I would had this not been on it. I'm not pre-judging, I'm jugding a song I have already heard (like Jason is) and saying I don't like it.
So yes, my odds of liking this have dropped a bit... especially if they're taking that sound direction.
I'm really excited for this cd, I love still love the band, but-
If 14 songs were recorded, why the hell are they only putting 10 or 11 on the album, and worse, why one we've heard before? I'm dissapointed, but still excited.

1.Some call to action song that will be half way decent
2.This is the song that will have the name of the album in the song
3."The Single"
4.Error Operator
5."The Crappy Second Single"
6.Over the top Acoustic Song
7.whatever is left
8.OMG A GOOD SONG!
9.A song just as boring as Number Five w/a Bullet
10.TBS taking lyrics from Straylight Run this time

I don't have a "grudge" against this band, the song just isn't good - I don't know what to tell you. Even the biggest TBS fan in the world, Jared Kaufman, thinks the song sucks donkey balls. Combine that with Adam's philosophy of only putting 10-11 songs on a CD to "leave kids always wanting more" - and we have an EP worth's of material that I have put a bet on me not liking based on what the band has told us the CD will sound like. Nothing more, nothing less - don't need to search for added drama when there isn't any.

exactly my thinking
And for those people who want us to think of TBS as a different band since John left, I do think of them as being different...They are now just a mediocre imitation of what they used to be. If I wrote Error Operator for a wide audience to hear/judge I would question whether my life should continue or not.

I like Error Operator, however the lyrics are way too simple and repetitive. I know they wrote it in like 5 minutes so I hope they maybe added another verse or just added lyrics somewhere. Seriously, I wish they would release an album with 12-14 songs. Also I'd really rather they not put error operator on the their new album. Is there any way we can give the band feedback?

In my opinion, error operator is a really good song and taking back sunday is still a good band. The only thing I don't like about error operator is the crappy lyrical content. I have high hopes for the new album, considering I'm one of the few who enjoyed WYWTB. I just can't find it in me to turn my back on the artists who created TAYF (probably my favorite album), which is why i will never bad-talk tbs or straylight run.

That's why God invented italics.
As well as this, I've heard live versions of "What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?" and "Baby Your Beard Hurts", and neither strike me as that interesting.
Just hope it will be good.
