Check out this really cool a-capella cover (http://www.prestonandsteve.com/audio/50.mp3) of Fall Out Boy (http://www.falloutboyrock.com)'s "Sugar We're Going Down" done by a group called Off The Beat (http://www.offthebeat.net). The song was performed on the Preston and Steve Show (http://www.prestonandsteve.com/).

the preston and steve show is an awesome show that used to be on Philadelphia's station Y100 until clear channel became a bastard and took Y100 off the air. Now, they're on WMMR, another Philadelphia station, in the mornings as usual.

I just reliezed that FFTL put Pete's number in their crappy Christmas song today.
Someone pointed it out to me, so it just makes Sonny more of a tool..
And yeah, I relieze it has nothing to do with this thread..

Besides the GUN part, its really good. Emocappella is still amazing as well. For the people who say it sucks....I would love to hear you try anything like this. It takes a ton of time just to arrange something like that. So congrats to the kids doing this, makes me happy to see that real music is still around. (Dont get me wrong, I love Fall Out Boy, but this is something just amazing)

That was damn hot for a live recording of the song. they're actually one of the best groups in the country, and arguably the best in the country at rock covers. A group at my school is about to cover that song, hope it sounds as good as that.

Fuck what anyone else says, that is a GOOD acapella cover. I'm not a big fan of acapella either. Plus, let's be honest, the lead vocalist sings "Sugar We're Goin' Down" live better than Patrick.

11/13/05, 02:39 PM
that was great. they are all really talented and i thought they rocked it, esp since the voices are enjoyable (unlike emocapella where some of the lead vocals are irriatating to listen to). great job, rockers.

Listen to real a capella.
agreed. you could do alot with the chorus as per harmonies and mixing voices. it is a good attempt, but I'd like to hear some of the better college a capella groups try this song out, i gurantee they'd come up with some amazing sounds.

i remember emocapella really fucking sucking. maybe they got better, but when they first started out, they always chose people who couldn't sing for shit to be their leads.
this is pretty impressive (for what it is.) they do some really good stuff with the song.
Boston University has the best acapella group in america for like 5 years running, they're called the dear abbeys, but i don't know if they would do something like this.

first of all, goldfinger's self titled cd and 'hang ups' were awesome cd's..shut up.

I still don't see what the big deal over the gun/god thing. All you have to do is listen to some gym class heroes & the reference makes sense.
um, he sounds better because they are playing it a half step down, for any of you who know nothing about singing, that makes it A LOT EASIER, fall out boy would sound amazing if they either played their stuff a half step down live, or if they stopped being asses and recorded their songs in a key that they can sing it in live
by the way, a lot of bands do this which to me kind of cheapens the performance, for example, yellowcard plays the stuff a full step down
the one singer who really impresses me is claudio from co and ca, their stuff is very hard to sing, but besides favor house, they play all their songs just like on the album...
but anyway, i sang a cappella in college, and these guys are good, they are pretty well known, i would have liked to hear the guy do it without going down a half step, they definately chickened out on that one, im pretty sure they did thursday's signals over the air, it was pretty sweet
