this was really tough. both amazing records I love to death.
but i went with mutiny!
it's alot more diverse, compared to the fys record, in which all the songs are kinda similar (but still awesome!)
mutiny! was the soundtrack of summer 06 for me, and still to this day, is my 3rd favorite summer driving cd (1st- nfg-s/t, 2nd- std- tbc)
on a related note, i CAN'T wait for new records by these bands. i've definitely worn these cds/audio files on my ipod out.

Mutiny! by a mile. Four Year Strong is good, don't get me wrong, but they can't compare to Set Your Goals. Plus every song on Mutiny! doesn't sound the same.

Unfortunately I chose FYS based on ignorance. I don't listen to SYG. I just downloaded Mutiny! to check it out.

Word. Plus Munity has good lyrics, doesn't rely on gimmicky breakdowns, has better dual vocals and blends the hardcore/pop punk sound naturally.
Imo FYS have more in common with silly ass ADTR than SYG. I still like FYS but they are really gimmicky and most likely every album they make will sound the same much like ADTR
Dude I could not agree more with you. With SYG you can't really tell the difference with the hardcore and pop punk parts where as with FYS, there is a clear distinction.

i think mutiny is actually better, but i enjoy RODT way more

I much prefer Mutiny. It's a very fun, energetic album.

FYS FTW! Better written, produced and the drumming is fucking ridiculous.

tough call. two of the better if not the best debut pop-punk albums i've heard over the past 5 years.
"mutiny!" by a very narrow margin...

If you like it download the Reset EP as well. Its just as good or better than Mutiny depending on who you ask. Both are pretty short so when I listen to SYG I always listen to them together since it only 40 minutes. Its great high energy workout music that never gets old
My biggest problem with SYG.

It doesn't detract from the music and enhances the replay value. Many punk albums are on the short side and so is Mutiny
I see what you mean, though it wouldn't really hurt anyone if they had a few more songs that went past 3 minutes.
just-in.

Two of my favorite records of recent years. Both are great, but I personally think Mutiny! is a better record. The way the songs flow together on the record is perfect--I don't know of many two songs that can compare to how Work In Progress flows into We Do It For the Money, Obviously or Dead Men Tell No Tales into Mutiny! I also agree with what was said above, about how FYS can be gimmicky. I love Four Year Strong and Rise or Die Trying to death, but I believe Mutiny! will become a classic in years to come.

How could you do this? These are two of my favorite albums, but I went with Rise of Die Trying because i prefer their vocals, and have better lyrics.

Never listened to SYG, don't really care for FYS.
Guess I'll have to check them out. Or pick up a cd at the NFG and Bayside show.

I just wish Mutiny! lasted a little bit longer. Last 3 songs on that record are awesome though.

mutiny
Anyone who thinks Mutiny will become "a classic" needs to get their head checked.
Goota be RODT
I love "Mutiny!" But the second vocalist is weak. And the songs are too short! plus the guitar work in FYS is outstanding- and it's just a much funner record imo. The vocals are also about 200000x better.

these are probably the 2 best pop-punk albums of the past 4 years (since Cartel "chroma"). i think they will both become classics in years to come. i felt the same way about Through Being Cool, Sticks and Stones and Dude Ranch when they came out (yea i'm old) and i feel pretty strongly i'll be right about these 2 albums as well.

Mutiny! and Rise or Die Trying would both completely blow it out of the water. Homesick is shit compared to those albums. For Those Who Have Heart would be a better contender, but still wouldn't come close.
