how sweet would it be if the next AP leak would be the saves the day record? i'd practically shit myself. it might give AP some cred with the harder to sell viewers of this website if they had legends like saves the day being promoted on the site..

either way, this record will be golden. i wonder how the "sceneyboppers" will react to this?

no matter how much they are pushed, i just don't think saves the day will ever break into the bigtime. i mean, stay what you are had a video on mtv, and was catchy as hell and very marketable, and never caught on. they've opened for blink, weezer, etc, etc, etc, and even at their peak, have never broken that glass ceiling. saves the day is one of the VERY FEW bands i can claim as my very own. and by that, i mean, they haven't been taken over by the "scene"

yeah i totally agree with you on that. they've had videos on mtv and all, but in all their years, they havent broken into the mainstream. i like it that way. eventhough years ago, their lyrics were all over AIM profiles and away messages, it hasnt hit. and i dont think it will. chris conley doesnt wear enough eyeliner. haha.

Didn't catch on? Heh, guess you weren't paying much attention to how big this band got. I'd have to disagree. I see what the one guy was saying; STD has a highly marketable sound and yet they still can't seem to really like break into the mainstream and make a huge splash. They did get bigger, yes, but not that big. There are many bands that are bigger that haven't been around as long as they have - sad, but true. :shake:

i saw them play this song tonight in Tulsa, holy shit. I had to go to the bathroom and clean up because their entire set made me jizz my pants. i liked the new early november too. Lucky senses fail played last so i wasn't forced to waste an hour of my life watching the crappiest band on this planet. I'de rather get raped by a clown in a dark ally than watch senses fail agian.

It's been said but this song is awesome. I cant find enough words to exress me feeling for this album. This embodies everything that I hoped the new STD record would be. I heard play this song live too and I gotta say it was great. This is def my favorite release of 06'. Chris and the rest of the boys need to get this cd out as soon as possible. Oh! and Tate get make this cd a leak.

3 times thus far. i saw it in DC, and then drove to see it in philly and in atlantic city. i'm also going to the starland show and the norfolk show on 12/17 and 12/15.

and what i saw was in DC, when saves the day opened (!!!), at least, if not MORE than half of the crowed exited immediately after the set was over.

i also saw the exact same thing happen (except the opposite) when senses fail didn't play last.

if senses fail/early november were not on this tour, i think only jersey/maybe philly would sell out. saves the day is not a huge band...and if you ask a lot of the new scene kids that think tell all your friends was the first emo cd ever, they've probably never heard of this band.

i like to hold saves the day in high regards, as one band i can honestly claim as my own.

they played 3 new songs over the two nights in chicago..and all of them sounded amazing, especially the end. saves the day is truly amazing. they put on the single best set i have ever seen from any band at the metro last week. i am beyond excited for the new cd.

I think it is interesting how Saves the Day doesn't seem to have the same type of marking draw as other inferior bands. What's great, though, is that they appear to be secure about that and aren't willing to compromise making music they love for music the radio loves. That's one reason why I love STD so much; they respect themselves too much to make junk. As for the new song, all of my dreams might be coming true with this new album. The song is fast, slightly varied, classic STD, and everyone is playing really tight. I'm going to the show in SLC on wed and this only increased my already frenzied excitement. I hope nobody listens to these guys. ok, i take that back, i hope that people who listen to senses fail, the used, hawthorne heights, and yellowcard don't listen to these guys. then there won't be so many people to smell at the shows. RAWK!

i have so much respect for saves the day as well.... i thought it was interesting when Chris said they didn't want to be like Fall Out Boy in that MTV article.... i'm sure if they really wanted to they could get "huge" (but what does"huge" even mean?) It's just not that important to them. they just want to write music they enjoy and if other people enjoy it and it has a positive influence in their life then rad... i can never imagine a day when the STD website has a news blog asking its fans to go to MTV.com and vote for them to move up the TRL charts... but who knows..

I was at the Atlantic City show and was thorougly impressed... i was pretty bummed they didn't play "sell my old clothes..." but that's ok, i cant wait to see them again.

saves the day is the best ever. all of their full lengths (esp in reverie) have blown my mind and im sure this will be no exception. chris is the best songwriter ever.

to everyone arguing abt their popularity, heres my two cents. i think they have fame like 311, where they only occasionally see big-time tv exposure or radio play; however still maintain a really big fan base and will continue to sell a good amount of records everytime. sure, they arent fall out boy or avenged sevenfold type of famous, but that is because they hold more of an established and steady place in the world of music than those other TRL type of famous bands. after they finished their sold out set in columbus, more than half of the crowd piled out (inc myself) before senses fail hit the stage. even last summer when they were the only headliners, they managed to sell out a decent sized venues while remaining a completly unsigned band (at the time). thats unbelievable that they can sell out a venue with no label pushing the tour. they are definatly a big band and have been for a while. you just dont realize it because its not as upfront.

I saw them last night. Drove 5.5 hours to Tulsa. It was well worth it. They put on an awesome show and essentially played every song I wanted them to (as well as a few songs from In Reverie). The new stuff sounded really good, too. "The End" was the least favorite of the new songs they played, and I still thought it was pretty good.

Unfortunately, the show I saw was definitely SF-dominated. Oh well, I could tell when the average age was about 15 that these kids were there for the wrong band.

And there was only one very small mosh pit during "Freakish" that garnered very confused looks and lasted about 20 seconds.

ted was the other guy who played guitar for them. if you mean dave, he's still in the band.

they had a bassist before Eben, Sean McGrath, and unfortunately, he died of cancer 1 or 2 years ago. Brian(drums) was replaced by Pete Parada of Face to Face.
