Below is an update from Chris McLane of Stretch Arm Strong (http://www.stretcharmstrong.net):
Greetings everyone. Today is a day off on the Suicide Machines tour and we are enjoying some time at home getting caught up on laundry, emails and some much needed sleep. This past week has been a whirlwind of events and we are pleased to announce that we will be making our debut appearance on FUSE (Steven's Untitled Rock Show) tonight at 10pm est. We are on the couch hanging with Steven for the full hour. He'll be spinning our video for "The Sound of Names Dropping." It's the 3rd video in the segment so tune in early to check it out and see how cool we look on TV. It was a great experience and the fine folks over at FUSE were extremely cool to us.
In touring news, the Suicide Machines tour is continuing to go really well and the shows are going off every night. We are playing in front of a lot of new kids and it's cool to see them react to our new songs and our band. We love seeing the old familiar faces that have been coming out to support us as well and we hope to see all of our friends in the Southeast, Southwest and Midwest as this tour continues to truck on through the 3rd of Dec. Starting on Dec 5 we will begin a 10 day trek with the guys in Story of The Year. These shows will be primarily East coast, so please check out the tour section for the info as all shows are now confirmed. We then take a little break for the holidays, then head overseas for the UK Strhess Tour with their friends in With Honor. Again, dates are on the website.
We will see you all soon.

you really like it? i don't think it's bad, but it's really laced with pop-punk. it reminds me of h2o's go album. i'd say it's pretty good for a pop-punk band, but not what i was expecting from them.

It's not a pop-punk album, it's just super melodic hardcore. I would liken the melodic parts to say, Hot Rod Circuit. It's a good evolution for them, I think it works well.

i'd have to say super melodic hardcore would be a stretch. it's definitely not a rituals of life or revolution album. i referenced the h2o album because, similar to h2o, stretch has seemed to change their style from a hardcore band, to a punk band laced with hardcore elements. not saying it's bad, just think they drifted away from their old sound. the difference is, i hated h2o when they did it because tobey got rock star syndrome at my local hardcore venue where he used to have lots of respect.

I gotcha. It's a pretty fine line between the two. Genres are irrelevant in this day and age anyways. I have liked Stretch for a while, and normally it bums me out when bands go soft, but after Engage, I kinda saw this coming, and it works for them.

totally agreed. after engage i wasn't sure what to expect. but i can see how it transitions between their stylings. i actually do like the new album more than engage. nice to see some stretch love. they always seem to the opening act that nobody really pays attention to. kind of like bane.

people don't respect bane because they look like frat guys on stage. it's that whole tough guy hardcore fashion, and it loses them respect. what other hardcore stuff have you dug this year? Ed Gein? Comeback Kid?

eh, bane has always been hit or miss for me. and i was pleasantly surprised with the victory debut for comeback kid. i've only heard the ed gein album once, so can't really comment on it. as far as hardcore, i have slowly been drifting away from hardcore the last year or two. i'd say the only real "hardcore" album i picked up this year, besides comeback kid, was embrace today. that was a good time. other than that, i've picked up the new ETID and the converge re-releases (which sound fantastic.)

The Comeback Kid record is amazing. So are the No Innocent Victim, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Demon Hunter, Stretch Arm Strong, As I Lay Dying, and With Honor cds.

I looooove new Comeback Kid. New ETID is awesome too. I just re-listened to the Converge re-releases yesterday, they sound so sick.
