Personally, I am a fan of musical diversity.

first, ISLAND Def Jam has artists of many different genres, not just rap.(The Killers, Letter Kills, FeFe Dobson, Rocket Summer, Thrice, etc...)
secondly, Babyface just pumps out incredible tracks, he has worked with artists such as TLC, Madonna and I think Eric Clapton(and if you bash on him, you have some serious problems)
thirdly, the man has proven success, and I think the sound they could create together would be pretty fantastic, but I guess only time will tell

I don't see what the big deal is. Babyface actually is a good producer. He knows what he's doing. Like they said in the article, he did the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack which actually, production-wise, is damn good.

i agree that the producer really wont matter, it just matters if the songs are good, but honestly, is anyone else getting sick of pete? all he does is run his mouth while sitting at home at a keyboard and starts a lot of garbage, and then he makes himself look like the good guy by saying "oh the whole thing is silly, we actually wrote a song about it", fall out boy writing a song poking fun at themselves and the scene, they've never done that before...

1). Knowing Pete and talking about this w/ other people that know him only leads me to believe he was joking around.

2). If it is indeed true and happens, then it has the potential to be very cool. Babyface is an insanely talented producer, and all of you that contain your taste and exposure to music in the genre(s) we mainly report on need to step outside the box and do some investigating and soul searching. You're just depriving yourself and appearing to be shallow and naive in the grand scale of things.

3). Everyone needs to stop taking this band, especially Pete, so seriously. C'mon, they have a boy with deer antlers in their video and insanely long song titles for a reason. Some of you get your panties in a twist over the pettiest things. Life's going to pass you by and all you're going to have to show for it is some smack you talked on a messageboard about a group of insanely down to earth guys having some fun while gaining, what they themseleves refer to, as undeserved success. I love this band -- as people and for their music -- and hope they keep fueling the fire that motivates some of you to whine on here as if you were 5 and your little brother stole your candy bar.
