all killer no filler hands down ........when I was a freshman in high school, and that CD came out...it was the first time I heard mainstream kids talk about obscure bands. Obviously by the end of that year and summer they were no longer obscure....but All Killer No Filler is top to bottom awesome...the summer anthems bring you back to your high school years...and its just a great album.
other close calls..NFG self titled, Saves the Day through being cool, Mest destination unknown.
by the way..GREAT list.

Why did you only put one album from each band?
....because the poll is for the best pop-punk ALBUM of the past 10 years...not band. I chose what is, in my opinion, the best and most genre-defining and landmark 19 pop-punk albums (from 19 different bands) of the past 10 years for the options.

haha! i'm unroastable when it comes to pop-punk...i certainly would have included "dude ranch" if my list was the past 12 years. it is my favorite blink182 album, but "enema" is still a strong candidtate on thsi list regardless..

Why did you only put one album from each band?
also, i only incuded one album from each band so the list has a ton of vareity...the list wouldn't be very encompassing or fun if it was just like
blink 182 enema
blink 182 jacket
nfg s/t
nfg sticks and stones
nfg catalyst
know what i mean? so i picked 19 different bands and what i consider their most essential or defining album of the past 10 years...
these are, in my opinion, the 19 most important pop-punk albums of the past 10 years, limiting my list to only one album per band

it was a TOUGH call, but I simply prefer "40 hour train". i thought it was a little more developed of an album, a little more robust and had a bit more variety to the songs. but yea, tough call for sure (as was going with NFG S/T instead of "sticks & stones")

Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree and The Starting Line - Based on a True Story are albums I would take over the ones you listed from those bands.
I went with their debut albums because they are more clearly pop-punk albums. there is some matierial on FUCT and a lot of material on "true story" that I wouldn't categorize as pop-punk. both bands kind of moved away from the genre on those albums, but "TTTYG" and "SILYMI" are clearly pop-punk records from start to finish.

If it was an album from more than 10 years ago, I might vote for it.
because i consider "through being cool" to be more clearly definable as pop-punk. Stay What You Are was not quite as power-chord/punk driven as TBC, they branched off into some slower, more ballad-like and beatles-esqe songwriting on SWYA so I went with the more straight up pop punk release for them.
and yes, i wish i could have included "buffalo" or "life in general" in the list, but sadly, they both came out over 10 years ago so I was stuck with "ever passing moment", but i had to work MXpx into this list somehow...

Well if this thread went back more years and we could have Life in General on there they might have more votres. Let It Happen was a huge win too, but that's more of a compilation than an album.
Also, I think the latest Fall Out Boy CD is one of the best pop punk released in a long time. It's probably more pop and less punk though, whereas TTYG was most definitely pop punk.

Turf Wars by Daggermouth, also.

I don't think it'd be fair for me to vote, since I haven't listened to Midtown yet. Of these choices, though... it was a hard pick, but I have to choose TSL. If Blink's S/T was on there it would've been a no-brainer.

I consider FOB and NFG as equals anyway.
TTYG has 12 songs, while EOWYG has only 9, and TTYG is obviously superior.

because "evening with your girlfriend" is fucking garbage, even FOB will be quick to tell you that. same reason Blink182 don't consider "budda" their first album or even an album really.
because Patrick is hideous looking and has a large head & thinning hair.
and yes, NFG are far superior to FOB, always have been, always will be.

1. sticks & stones was the closest call I made on this poll, i simply went with the s/t because it came out first and was their breakthrough, although i do recognize that "sticks and stones" is probably the more popular/better NFG album
2. I think Through Being Cool is more traditional "pop-punk", SWYA meandered into new territory for them, more chilled out ballady stuff and beatles-y stuff like "nightengale", "this is not an exit", "cars & calories", "freakish"...i wouldn't consider any of those pop-punk songs so i don't really consider it a pop-punk album although I do recogize (like sticks adn stones) that it is probably the better/more popular STD album
3. only one album per band for the poll...so sorry, no "coming home"...plus that is probably the least pop-punk album NFG has done (although it is indeed an excellent album)
4. NUFAN - look for my "most essential skate punk albums" poll coming soon :) i am a huge fan, but i think they more belong in a poll with bands like nofx, lagwagon, strung out than they do this poll

first i must say, fantastic list. rarely will there be a poll on ap.net that i am familiar with anything close to 99% of the nominees.
second of all, i chose fys - rise or die trying, midtown - living well is the best revenge, and homegrown - kings of pop
i chose those three because i think conceptually, they are the best pop-punk albums out of the list. i have huge appreciation for all of those albums on that list, but these stick out just a little more. they, to me, are the best thought out albums. every riff, every break, every melody, every lyric feels very well thought out to me. it also seems to capture the pop-punk genre regionally, midtown and fys representing the east coast pop punk; homegrown, the west coast... pop punk's regional roots are also very fascinating.

??? no dude, no...i wouldn't consider either of those songs pop-punk...i wouldn't put Say Anything in the same ball park as Mest, NFG, BLink, old FOB...dude, no.
those songs take so many stylistic and rhythmic twists & turns...especially 'alive with the glory of love'...i'm not sure what that waltzy beat is called (maybe it is a waltz?) with the piano and then that Beatles-esque "bop bop bop" part when he's singing "our trablinka is alive...with the glory of love.."....
as for orgy of critics, that song has some hardcore elements to it and the chorus is semi-pop-punk, but again, too complex stylistically and structureally to be put int he same box as Homegrown or Sum41 or NFG even.
Say Anything are above and beyond pop-punk. i'm not sure what I'd call them, but no, not pop-punk, that is selling Say Anything way too short.
do you see what i'm saying?

simplicity is not a stylistic trait, its just a trend. in spite of their complex compositions say anything songs contain all the components you'd expect out of a pop-punk band -- the raw energy, the angsty lyrics, the gang vocal anthems, the fast-paced fill-happy drums, i could go on and on. they just make a more complex form of pop-punk, which takes influence from a broader music spectrum, and attribute a different flavor and vibe to every song, and thats what makes IARB easily the most complete and diverse pop-punk album ever made. whether that makes it the best record is under your discretion but it is without doubt in the pop-punk sound and enshrouded in the pop-punk scene.
back in the day, FOB did everything NFG does (energetic/crazy rhythms, sugary improv-melody hooks, hardcore-influenced drums and shouts, the distinct nasally vocal aesthetic, the "we're not music gods but just friends jamming in your garage" appeal) except they did it all at least three times better. TTTYG is EASILY the best album you listed in this thread.

simplicity is not a stylistic trait, its just a trend. in spite of their complex compositions say anything songs contain all the components you'd expect out of a pop-punk band -- the raw energy, the angsty lyrics, the gang vocal anthems, the fast-paced fill-happy drums, i could go on and on. they just make a more complex form of pop-punk, which takes influence from a broader music spectrum, and attribute a different flavor and vibe to every song, and thats what makes IARB easily the most complete and diverse pop-punk album ever made. whether that makes it the best record is under your discretion but it is without doubt in the pop-punk sound and enshrouded in the pop-punk scene.
back in the day, FOB did everything NFG does (energetic/crazy rhythms, sugary improv-melody hooks, hardcore-influenced drums and shouts, the distinct nasally vocal aesthetic, the "we're not music gods but just friends jamming in your garage" appeal) except they did it all at least three times better. TTTYG is EASILY the best album you listed in this thread.
FOB = 3x better than NFG? Not sure I agree with that. But I do agree with what you said about Say Anything!:-)

this. certainly "sticks & stones" and the self-titled are superior to TTTYG. I mean, what do you think patrick was listening to when he wrote the music to TTTYG? he was listening to Saves the Day and New Found Glory, i've heard as much in interviews. they wear thier influences on their sleeve and NFG clearly influenced TTTYG. i'm sure a 15 year old Patrick Stump was LOVING NFG-S/T and "through being cool" in 2000....
Actually they've stated in numerous interviews that Lifetime were their biggest influence. They've also cited The Get Up Kids and Saves The Day as influences, but never read them say anything about NFG.

I like what you said in your first paragraph, i can get on board with that concept, i see what you're saying and say anything....i think we can all agree that "is a real boy" is fucking phemomenal and trumps most albums on this list in my opinion and likely all the albums on this lit in your opinion.
as for FOB...and why i think NFG is far and away the superior band...i saw FOB on their 2003 tour opening for Less Than Jake when TTTYG dropped and they were complete SHITE live...patrick's vocals live were waaay off-key (as they were when i saw them again in 2005 just before FUCT dropped) and he had no stage presence whatsoever. Sure Andy is and always has been a fantastic drummer and Pete's presence was rock-star even back then...but NFG they were not.
Jordan has waaay better stage presence and vocal projection and singing ability live and overall as a band, NFG were and are much tighter than FOB have ever been live.
as for TTTYG verses NFG s/t, both are fantastic albums and it's clear that you and fadedmemories are on the FOB side and i'm on the NFG side but it's not like either one of us has some retarded opinion or anything. I agree, TTTYG is fucking amazing, that is why i included it in this poll and i listed the poll options in the order of my favorite pop-punk albums so there you go. i fucking love it.
...but it is that live aspect, the live show of FOB and NFG that just doesn't compare, and why I've always held NFG to a higher standard, because not only did they break through a good 3 or 4 years prior to FOB, but their live performance has always been better

Enema of the State is easily not only the best album on here, but one of the best albums of all time. It destroyed the boy band movement, spawned tons of modern bands, many of which are on this list (FOB, Fenix Tx, etc.), and changed the music scene. On top of that, and it was said before in here, there isn't one off note. The every song on the album could have been a single, and a successful one at that. Granted, TTTYG is good (even though I think FUCT is better), and so is YFW, but I don't think the can beat Enema, and this poll is exemplifying that. I am surprised theres no Green Day on here, probably some semantic issue with the term pop-punk?

1. That is just simply not true.
2. Blink did not change the music scene, they were following in the footsteps of Green Day, the Offspring, Rancid, Bad Religion, etc. (the real pop-punk bands who changed the music scene).

True that blink followed in the footsteps of Green Day, Bad Religion, Offspring, etc., but they are still cited by most modern bands as an influence, and that is a fact. To me, that means they made a cultural impact. And, whether Enema is one of the greatest albums ever is an opinionated statement, and I suppose i was feeling kind of...impulsive that day lol. As for an album full of singles, it was a statement about how I believe there isn't one bad song. And blink never really sold out, people just can't deal with bands getting popular. If you imagine the guitars on Enema being of the same quality as Cheshire Cat, the difference, while noticeable, isn't as drastic as many make it out to be. I mean, Mutt was written during the Dude Ranch era...that being said, thanks for answering the Green Day question lol.

3 great albums but
A. I don't consider SoCo pop-punk, more of a piano-driven pop-rock band with a slight pop-punk influence here and there on that album (such as "hurricane"), but most of that album is not pop-punk by my definition
B.already have NFG on the list and "coming home" is their least "punk" album. it sure is "pop" though.
C. already have "through being cool" ont he list, which I think is more exemplary of pop-punk than SWYA is. SWYA already showed Connley branching out to different styles, but TBC was still striaght-up pop-punk.

love the band, love the album, but I don't consider them "pop-punk" ala FOB, Blink, NFG, YC and the other albums on this list. JEW are and never really were in that same cluster of bands, they're a little outside the box of the traditional early 2000s pop-punk genre. but yea, great album, just doesn't quit fit on this list with the others.
I see where you're coming at. They are different, but I guess if I had to put them in a genre it would be pop-punk.

blink-182's Take Off Your Pants And Jacket. It's my favorite pop-punk album of all-time.

all killer no filler hands down ........when I was a freshman in high school, and that CD came out...it was the first time I heard mainstream kids talk about obscure bands.
Damn fuckin right

You do realize that their 2nd is AKNF, and the third is Does this look infected?

I don't consider their EP an actual album, since it's an EP.

Well those are their "heavier" albums, I think that's a big debate right there. their metal side vs. their punk side

I picked my top three
FYS, Blink and Saves The Day.
I'd also like to nominate Motion City Soundtrack - I am the movie

Enema of the State is without a doubt the best pop-punk album of all time. Sticks and Stones by NFG is a close second, though.

Ocean Ave is a fantastic album, fuck the haters. there's no shame in pop punk my man. no shame. unless your favorite pop-punk album is by Good Charlotte.
LOL! The last bit about Good Charlotte made me lol. I think this is the best quote I've heard on AP.

I chose Ocean Avenue but I would've chosen NFG's All Downhere From Here over their selftitled, IMHO

Some glaringly obvious absences here, namely Jimmy Eat World, Alkaline Trio and Motion City Soundtrack.
Couple others too, depending on how one defines "pop-punk."
