Bayside better win this poll.
Edit: Since I'm the first post odds are people will see this. If you haven't heard Bayside check out these three songs. They are each from a different record and are a good example of their respective CDs and Anthony's great songwriting skills. Everything else by Bayside is just as good but these are my personal picks for "starter songs". Check em out.

Phone Call From Poland (http://www.imeem.com/jukeboxmusic5/music/UVLWDHyP/bayside-phone-call-from-poland-album-version/)

i love silverstein. they were the first band i listened to pretty much when WBIEF came out. bayside is by far the better band, hands down. they are amazing. i had to throw my vote for silverstein though.

I actually have a lot more respect for Silverstein than most other bands in that genre nowadays, and have been a casual fan for a number of years now, but the answer is Bayside hands down.
Sirens and Condolences changed my life and everything since has been consistent.

I could never get into Silverstein. Bayside, on the other hand, is really catchy, and Anthony seems like a pretty sweet guy (based on his blogs and his set on the Where's the Band? Tour).

Exactly......Same goes with any of their earlier work, like Summer's Stellar Gaze EP.

every bayside album has been more solid than the one before it, at least in my opinion. easy vote
I liked a couple of Silverstein's earlier discs, but "The Walking Wounded" definitely is amazing.
Not a fan of Silverstein. I do like a few songs from Bayside. Plus, Neon-wearing hipster-wannabe douchebags and Asher Roth both suck, so my vote went to Anthony Raneri's band.

03/29/09, 11:12 PM
Bayside by a landslide.
Frenizzle
03/29/09, 11:23 PM
Bayside without question. If you voted for Silverstein and haven't heard more than a handful of songs from Bayside, then you must be deaf. Bayside is absolutely one of the most consistent, hardest working, and best bands out there. To anyone that has for whatever reason only heard one or two songs from them, go listen to anything else from them.

UnderMyDreams
03/29/09, 11:48 PM
I went with Silverstein, just the stuff I have heard from them are decent.
The thing with Bayside is Anthony has started to sort of annoy me. I thought he had it dead on when he dissed brokencyde. But then he went out on a limb and tried to take down Asher Roth and what happens during the weekends at college without having gone to college. Honestly, for someone like me who is at a pretty big party school I can really relate from personal experience what Asher Roth said in the song. Whether Anthony realizes it or not, that's the reality. It kind of made him come off as real arrogent without knowing ANYTHING about college or Asher Roth. Making opinions based on one song are pretty crappy...
I can take songs he has written with bayside to say as promoting suicide... Am I going to blog and say that he promotes suicide and all this crap? No. He needs to worry more about his music and less about stuff he has no idea about.

Silverstein perfectly combine melodic singing and ruthless screaming.
I've just never heard anything like that from Bayside.
But their song "Butter" makes me weak at the knees. It's perfection.

Are you serious? Anything pre DTF is unlistenable imo.
Discovering the Waterfront was their best album by far, but I really like their earlier stuff. Summer's Stellar Gaze and When Broken Is Easily Fixed are great albums, and I never really got into Bayside...so...my choice.
DandonTRJ
03/30/09, 05:25 PM
Okay, whoever sent a legion of n00bs to stuff the ballot box in their favor is seriously lame. ATTENTION ALL BANDS INVOLVED: This isn't a general poll of who's better than who. This is a reflection of the dedicated AP community's tastes. Stop trying to fuck with the results. That being said, I admire Bayside, but DTW is a favorite album of mine, and while A&D didn't really satisfy me as a whole, it still had some great cuts. And I'm seriously digging Shipwreck. So, a futile vote for Silverstein.

To each his own. I'm a fan of both bands put only really relate to and enjoy Bayside's lyrics.Silverstein is just one of "those" bands I mlidy enjoy but feel has little substance. I just don't get how someone relates to such laughable lyrics as.
my heart bleeds no more
now, it's been turned to stone
your stomach feels sick for someone else
i've broken both my legs falling for you
drag me on the ground
powerless i stand
tarnished blade, cutting through, pushed into my vein
blood still stains my hands
sharpening my sense of pain outsid
or
Your joy is my pain.
My fingers are yours to cut off
And my bones are yours to shatter in pieces.
My teeth are yours to pull out
And my soul is yours to slowly rip apart.
I can't trust anyone I meet.
From now on, my chest
Feels more like a fist wrapped in blood.
or
Cutting Me, razor blades and perfect lines
Were just, you'll get anything you want
Broken hearts surround everything you wanna say
Which shows, why wait this for Falling in my path
I'm not saying I can relate to the lyrics of every single song (although the first one you mentioned is the most kick-ass song live), but the whole concept of "Waterfront" hit home with me, and same with songs like "Waiting Four Years" or "Giving Up."

Both Bayside and Silverstein are amazing!
Silverstein got me into punk a few years ago... and totally opened my eyes to all the great music that is out there.
But Bayside... Bayside is just amazing. I mean ALL of their music is wonderful. It never gets old.
So I think I have to chose Bayside. I wish I could give three votes because then I would give two to Bayside and one to Silverstein

I Think I'll Be OK (http://www.imeem.com/bayside/music/rweicBjy/bayside-i-think-ill-be-ok/)
If you don't have an IMEEM account, all three songs are available for streaming on their myspace. (http://www.myspace.com/bayside/)
"Montauk" and "I Think I'll Be Ok" are the weakest songs from those 2 CDs imo...but it's Bayside so I don't hate any of their songs, just prefer some songs more than others...I recommend "Have Fun Storming the Castle", "Don't Call Me Peanut", "Carry On", "A Synonym For Acquiesce", "Answers We'll Never Get", and "Winter"...my favorite song from each of their CDs

Although i really like both bands, Silverstein is one of my favorite bands, so they will get my vote even tho they are gettin smoked right now... 2 bands which are really good friends and ive seen them play together before, to me i enjoyed everything silverstein has put out, bayside i love thier first 2 albums, then ehh on thier last 2 soo for me at least silverstein imo... and one more thing about whoever said bayside worked harder, unless ur in the band i dont think anyone can really say anything like that, because im pretty sure silverstein works just has hard as thier friends in bayside... just a random rant lol

Yeah, their first two EPs were great, (even though Shane had to record SSG while he was sick) and the rest of their work is even better.
