As much as I like SYG, I honestly can't get past the less-than-mediocre singing ability of their second vocalist. So, All Time Low, mainly because I loved PUOSU, plus I have lot of good memories associated with them (best show I ever went to; seeing them with Hit The Lights and Valencia back in March '07 at Ray's Downtown).

ATL just has no redeeming factors imo, and (I've said this in countless other threads, but I don't care) I don't understand how they get so much support and respect they get whilst bands like The Maine, FTSK, and Boys Like Girls get bashed... because ATL does absolutely nothing different from any of these bands.

Today at a local show, All Time Low somehow came up in a conversation between my friends/band and this group of girls, and I said that I disliked them... and the only thing one of the girls who was a "huge fan" of them could say was "b...b...but Alex Gaskarth is such a hottie".

Set Your Goals I honestly haven't heard much by, but their Jawbreaker cover of "Do You Still Hate Me"? was amazing and I played it TONS of times.

I think their music has just always felt catchier and just overall better sounding than Mutiny. The Party Scene and PUOSU at least, in my opinion, are much better and more solid albums. Ignoring what is trendy, I still feel All Time Low have the advantage. So what some people are going to like ATL because of what they look like or the trend? That's not why they started, and that's not why the real fans follow them or they make music.

Not to mention ATL was one of the first bands that really got me into this type of music.

Their first album added a new flair to pop-punk that really hadn't been heard or done before as far as mainstream pop-punk goes, and with their second album they took a complete 180 and released a lively, colorful, melodic 60's influenced pop-rock record... which yes, alienated about 1/2 of their fanbase, but to me and some others, Pretty.Odd. is without a doubt the superior record.

The fact alone that they turned their backs on a trend that they arguably had a hand in starting (dancey, techno-ish emo/pop punk) proves that they are not a throwaway act, imo.

All Time Low is horrid, shallow, image pop, I kind of feel this was based off of which band has more scenester promotion really. Because Set Your Goals is a great, great, band and have the potential to be the next NFG. Regardless if they lose, ATL won't make it another round.

I voted Set Your Goals.

I like All Time Low, but I feel like their acoustic stuff far surpasses their album stuff. Alex has a hell of a voice and those dudes write monster hooks, but a lot of their talent gets lost in things that sound overproduced to me on record. I could listen to their acoustic stuff over and over again, but after a few spins, "So Wrong, It's Right" blends together as one giant song with the exception being "Remembering Sunday". Even on the new song "Weightless", the chorus is HUGE, but I can't get past the fake drums at the beginning - you've got talented guys in the band, yet the first thing you showcase is a drum machine.

I won't take anything away from All Time Low, they're a great band, but personal bias aside for Set Your Goals, they wrote a great, fun record in "Mutiny" that hasn't gotten old yet. If I put the two full lengths up against each other ("So Wrong..." and "Mutiny"), the SYG record sounds like a complete album and the ATL record sounds like a radio single done three ways and finished with filler.

If ATL takes this, I'll back them - it should be close, but we shouldn't take points off from SYG based on lack of material.

I think that's part of what makes it so good. They're just similar enough that they're actually comparable and some people will seriously debate it, yet different enough that some people will be completely one way or the other.
