Dreamcast sold out at launch, had an incredible launch lineup (Soul Calibur is one of the best launch games of all time), and yet it still is considered a flop.

I know, i'm not a fan boy of any gaming system really, i'm just pointing out that Revolution, isn't the revolution everyone's making it out to be. but in terms of HD, all tv formats will be HD in the upcoming years

Besides there are two competing HD DVD formats, one called Blu Ray and I can't remember the name of the other one. So is one of those formats going to become the Betamax?

IT will play dvd's out of the box, thats been changed. And ps3 will support blue ray not HDDVD. Im sure it will kill sales wise too but thats because we live in a world of idiocy.

Blue ray is a form of High Definition DVD, i didn't mean HD-DVD as in the format but i ment as in the actual type of dvd, i should have clarified

I'm not buying a movie player, I'm buying a gaming machine. DVD isn't going to go out of style anytime soon, and i'm not going to be able to afford an HD TV in the next 5-10 years anyways. Nintendo has tried supporting things like digital video and other things recently, and there wasn't much demand. The fact of the matter is it doesn't make or break a console, and most people are content without that improvement.

Right now, less than 1% of all televisions in use are HD. HD TVs are not predicted to be standard for about another ten years. Complain if the next Nintendo system isn't HD...this one doesn't matter because it's not going to hurt sales. People just can't think of anything else to bash the Revolution about. Oh man, the graphics aren't going to be as good? Who cares? Look at the 360's graphics. Pretty, yes. Next-gen? Not even close.

uh. mine has always worked. it's actually my xbox DVD drive which is totally fried now. (and I have 1st gens of both systems)

My roommate had problems with both his PS2s in reading both games and DVDs. Read: BOTH PS2s, because he was forced to buy a second after the first decided not to work anymore.

I hope once again you are speaking as of High Definition, and not the HD-DVD format, because almost every movie company (Miramax, Sony, MGM, WB, etc.) have all pledged support for blu-ray. Which essentially means nobody is producing for HD-DVD, save for the people pushing it who are Intel and Microsoft. So in essence, the 360 could have a HD-DVD drive that doesn't matter because movies won't be in that format.

And was it certain 360s will ship with HD-DVD? My roommate said they may ship with hd-dvd drives at launch, but thats all I have ever heard. And yes, I am buying a system for gaming, not another dvd player, or another computer. Give me a Revolution.

on a semi related note, if your ps2 isnt reading discs (games or dvds) right, as in it doesnt work or takes awhile: stand it on its side. thats what i have to do now, if i lay it flat it does not work at all, but works perfectly on its side.
