Argh... Why do people feel the need to exaggerate the crumminess of Asbury Park? No, it's not the Hamptons, but it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Compared to Camden and areas of Newark and Trenton, Asbury Park is in pretty good shape. On top of that, the city has been making great strides in improvement over the last decade or so.

So stop the haterizing.

Ya, I go to Asbury a lot. The musical history in Asbury is rich. When a festival comes to Asbury the festival is Asbury. The whole town gets in to it. I think that's a really cool thing. If you move it somewhere else I don't think it will have that atmosphere.

Fun Fact... Average murders per year in Asbury Park: 1. One murder per year in an urban area is a small number.

Most of the crime that goes on there is burglary/theft/robbery.

I'm in this city 3-4 times a week... It's not that dangerous. Especially around the beachfront. It's all about perception.

agreed. I like the almost ghost town feel to it...it's a shame (well, not for the residents) that it's getting renovated to look like disneyland.

Plus, as somebody who lives 5 minutes from Raceway Park, I couldn't agree more about how difficult it is driving there. On a day when there's racing going on, it takes me 25 minutes to get to the other end of town when any other day it'll take me 3.

it sucks getting out of raceway park at the end of a big event. stick it at rutgers and we can drink and ride the buses. but our luck as rutgers students, thats going to happen, rutgersfest artists are usually too lame to be on bamboozle.

That is exactly what I was thinking/hoping. I'm like, 15 minutes from Raceway Park. Warped Tour there was great, except for the heat causing many people (including myself) to pass out. But still, Bamboozle at Raceway? That would be amazing.
