Link Wray and the Wraymen were baaaaadass.
"Rumble" is one of the most important songs that basically no one ever hears.
And the power chord wasn't his most imporant thing, it was distortion. He took apart his amp and punched holes in the speaker cones to get the patented "fuzz-tone" sound.

Because few people enjoy reading rock and roll history textbooks. (I'm a music nerd)
I'm sure you could hear it if you went looking for it, but it's hard to find.

Cause good guitar players are hardly, if not ever recognized anymore. When was the last time you heard a good Jazz tune or an Instrumental anywhere near a maintstream broadcast.
Rip Link Wray (http://www.linkwraylegend.com/),-We Owe What Is Music Today, To You. :(

they're recognized enough that it only takes two weeks for their death to make the news.

Not only was he the one to popularize the powerchord and distortion.
He was the first one to get a song banned from the radio. That's right, he made an instrumental song so violent that it was banned from the radio.
wow, those are some very cool facts. that guy sounds awesome.
