The prevailing opinion around the league is that Minnesota, barring a sustained nosedive prior to the All-Star break, would not consider trading Garnett before next summer. With a record of 5-4 following their victory over Charlotte on Saturday night, the Wolves are in first place in the Northwest Division.

One source told ESPN.com that the New York Knicks had made Minnesota an offer that included the expiring contracts of Penny Hardaway ($15.7 million) and Antonio Davis ($13.9 million). But for such a trade to work under salary cap rules, the Knicks would also have to take back Sczcerbiak. While that deal would be stunningly lopsided talent-wise, it would relieve the Wolves of $102 million in salary obligations over the next three seasons, allowing them to enter the 2006 offseason with approximately $25 million of cap space.

One source close to several NBA players insisted that the viability of the Knicks' offer should not be dismissed, going so far as to say Garnett was making a private push through back channels to be dealt to New York and reunite with former teammate Stephon Marbury.

"I'd bet money he'll be wearing a Knicks uniform by the end of February," the source said.

No offense but I've seen 6 different trade rumors involving KG and the T-Wolves trying to free cap space, I doubt he'll go anywhere until his contract run outs.

well, we also would have to see how far into the season the twolves are willing to go before they completely write it off. i actually would like robinson/kg/curry over marbury, but marburys the big selling point in this trade. i just like robinson alot, and its scary how much help nate would get developing with kg next to him

If he couldn't even make the playoffs last year with that timberwolves team, it makes me a non believer in kg. At this point the Knicks need more than one great player coming in to make a run at the championship but, KG would bring life back into that organization. If they get him and then for once have a good draft day and make some smart personal decisions, starting with the firing of Thomas, then they could be back in the hunt.

i dont think this trade will happen...i've seen so many different rumors involving KG.

another one being discussed is KG to the pistons for rasheed and darko.

to the nets for VC, nenad and a first rounder or two.

and finally to the knicks.

marbury and kg didnt co-exist in minnesota. why would they in NY? until marbury is off of that team, they will not go anywhere. if kg cant lead the wolves to the playoffs, what makes you think he can lead the knicks to the playoffs? if marbury would get his head out of his ass they might go somewhere if they landed kg.

all of this is just rumors though. how many rumors do we hear every year? people jump on shit too early. i dont think KG would want to go to new york...i'd pick the pistons and nets over the knicks. big ben and kg?! that'd be nuts. kidd to KG that'd be nuts too.

and as for lebron...why would he go to NY? he wants to win...not lose, and it wont happen there. he'll be in clevland for awhile.

KG to knicks equals nothing. You add one more player to the roster who demands the ball (I know KG passes also, but if KG starts, and gets 25 a game, someone with 10 points is sitting, which means KG is going to be eating up someone elses shots and someone's gonna be pissed). One more guy who needs playing time. Which means one more starter is relieved to bench status and will be pissed off all season long. Kg to the knicks brings no chemistry. Larry Brown is having a hell of a time shaping them up, what makes you think a natural born leader like KG will do. He'll always be frustrated with the egocentric, money grubbing waste of talent that surrounds him. IF this trade did happen, it would make KG miserable.

Add Szcerbiak, thats another ball hog, another huge salary, another ego to feed. It seems like Thomas is playing mad scientist here.

The Knicks will never be an unstoppable force till they get team chemistry. Adding two starters onto a roster filled with starters does nothing but deflate ego's and upset chemistry. And the fact that nobody in that trade is worth anything except KG makes me believe it's highly unlikely anything will happen.

I want to know how the knicks are going to ever develop their potential star rookie if they keep pulling crap like this.

if this happened, what a dumb move by the warriors. giving up two good young players, and one potentially good plyaer for KG and two players who dont do much(i LOVE madsen's hustle, dudes up and down the floor before anyone, but talent wise, ehhh). and if baron gets hurt, kgs in a worse situation than he is now.

kg needs to just stay in minny and they need to do some free agent shopping.

yeah, i am kinda neutral on the situation right now. i dont believe everything espn says, but they're pretty damn reliable. according to the epsn insider it wont happen either though. all parties have denied all rumors...

the timberwolves were terrible last year, kg did more than pull his weight. regardless of where he is playing HE is unstoppable. but you still need 5 guys on the floor, and one aint gonna do it
