i'm really good friends with this one couple i know. i love each of them more than anything, and am really close with each pretty much the same amount.

the girl in this relationship fucked her ex-boyfriend last week and i found this out through another mutual friend.

should i tell this boy i know, or keep my mouth shut?

she as advised by the mutual friend to break up with him, but wont because she knows it'll break his heart and she wants to go to semi-formal with him.

all i could think of was telling the mutual friend to convince the cheater to tell me herself.

what a shitty situation. no one likes to hear someone say something bad about someone you like, and he probably will get pissed if you tell him (it makes no sense, but i've had this happen to me as well as seen it happen numerous times) but if you don't tell him, and he finds out, then finds out you knew, he'll probably get pissed you didn't tell him.

it'd be hard for me to keep my mouth shut, and i never do, so if you really want to tell him.. i'd say something along the lines of you vaguely hearing something, and you were just looking out for him. chances are, the girl probably told more than just that one mutual friend, and i'm sure the ex-boyfriend wasn't any quieter.

I'd be straight up with him to be honest. I've been cheated on and had my friends know before I did and not tell me...and I think that hurt me more then actually finding out he cheated. I was the girl that a friend of mines boyfriend cheated with (I didn't know they were going out and he was also my ex) and that was one of the worst things that ever happened to me. I had to confess to a close friend that not only was her boyfriend a cheating asshole, I was probably the worst friend ever. But afterwards, she told me that if I hadn't told her and she had found out otherwise we probably wouldn't have stayed friends... I have to say, that was probably one of the worst feelings of my life. Right up there with being bare ass naked in a ski lodge, which I can also tell you is not a very nice feeling.
