I love how they had never done this until they went on tour with Stiletto Formal, who end their set in the same drum beat and have for a year and a half now, and now it is part of their set.

Anyone who doubts that needs to go listen to the end of Murder At The Stiletto Formal. It is the same drum beat only better done.

i bet i bet

well its a catchy rythm. i wouldnt blame them for ending it that way every time. and anways, i think its pretty cool that forgive durden "covered" it. very anathallo esque.

Na I just think credit goes where credit is due. And Furgive Durden does not deserve any credit for that.

No Furgive Durden saw Stiletto Formal on tour end with THAT drum beat. The next song the wrote ends their set with the same drum beat.

that sentance doesn't even make sense. by the way, most of us learned in grade school how to spell "forgive."

So now you can't dissagre with the content of my argument so you have to revert to pointing out spelling mistakes?

i've heard that "beat" or at least variations a thousand times before so any credibility you're trying to instill in stiletto formal for using it "first" is pointless and totally ignorant.

Yeah, The Snake The Cross The Crown has done it forever as well. They must be ripping them too!

i'll end this here and now. caveman came up with that drum beat thousands of years ago.

Its more to it than just the beat itself, it is the way it is used in the set. If it was just the drummer playing that beat it would not be an issue and I would agree with you. However Stiletto Formal have ended their shows since day one over year and a half ago with a jam out part where Kyle their singer also plays drums that they have on stage for just that part. It is that beat (what ever you call it). After Forgive Durden saw Stiletto at a hand full of shows they played together they started ending their set with a jam where they all play drums that they only have on stage to play the finally. In that finally they play the same beat as Kyle. It is their climatic finally that sounds oddly like Stilettos drum line.

Secondly the Latina influence is a big part of it. That is Kyle he lives for that. Its part of what makes Stiletto Stiletto is this odd mix of influences. The Latin jam in the middle of a screamy indie song almost sounds like it shouldn’t work but the way they do it, it does. Forgive Durden’s influence isn’t a Latin beat, its Stilettos set.

If you think this is something everyone does. Name one other band that ends with anything like it (and don’t just name a band with a rock out part at the end). Name an indie rock band with a Latin drum line jam finally. I can name two who do, and I know who did it first.

Gatsby's American Dream, Kola Band, Ricky Martin, Malo, and plenty of other bands. So is it not okay for people to headbang during rhythmic breakdowns because they're not the first ones to do it, or is not okay for someone to use distortion because somebody else has done it. I think you're confused here. I don't think people like Forgive Durden because they did this. People liked them for other reasons and said "Hey, that's pretty cool" when they saw this video. I don't think anyone really cares who or where it came from. The real credit belongs to latinos not Stiletto anyways...like you just pointed out.

P.S. Do you know "The Slip"? They ended their set in Boston a couple years back with a very similar breakdown and they all blow away any musician in Stiletto's Formal.

stilleto formal seems to be making a HUGE deal out of something completely insignificant. I don't know why, it makes them look really stupid.

Has anyone from Stiletto read this? When a Fall Out Boy fan argues with a New Found Glory fan do you say "This makes Fall Out Boy look bad" ??

I made up my mind when I saw Furgive Durden on tour opening for Stiletto with out talking to any member of either band about it. Mybe people who saw both before and after could make their own mind up?
