You can check out my review of the new System Of A Down (http://www.systemofadown.com) disc, Hypnotize, right here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=2090490#post209049 0). The album is in stores now through Columbia Records (http://www.columbiarecords.com).

I like the singles of off Toxicity and about 1/4 of Mesmerize....should I even bother? I just cannot get into this band with their past releases, my friends LOVE Toxicity, i don't see it.....but I LOVE ME SOME SUGAR (what do I feel, what do I say.......)

Very strongly.

You guys can disregard SOAD but you will be missing out. They may not be the best band ever, or even the best band right now, but thier music is very powerful. And they are amazing live, I have seen them three times and been utterly blown away all three times.

I think their old stuff is better, but honestly, everyone just eats whatever they feed them now.

i read it and i thought it was a great review...i've been listening to these guys since high school and have loved every single release...i should've picked this album up yesterday but i got bayside and sufjan stevens finally instead.

as a side note, my freshman year of college i took a class called "trauma, culture and memory" about how large traumas affect our culture and how we remember them. because of system of a down i did mine on the armenian genocide and the best part was that i got to play P.L.U.C.K. for the class...sweet

I scanned it. I just don't care enough about them to read it though. I can tell they're talented as hell, but I just can't stand the music.

They just release a CD in May. Now this? Sheesh 5 months a part between releases. I'm suprised the record label let them do this so soon.

I read the review, and I completely agree with. In my opinion, these two albums are by far the best music to come out this year.

I don't really like "Hypnotize".

Good review, and good job not mentioning "Lonely Day", that song is pretty bad.

However, I have to completely disagree with you, in that I fell that Mesmerize blows Hypnotize out of the water. Hypnotize is good, Mesmerize is much more solid throughout and is much more dynamic in its scope of musicality and emotion.

They recorded both albums at the same time.

it's really two records together they relate somehow but they decided to release them seperatly, which is kind of smart becasue they make more money that way. i really like there music they can play really well

I dont think theyve ever made a sub-par record, but I got tired of most of it after toxicity. I just like the spasticness of their first CD which at what 5 years old? never gets old
