Danny Calise’s second album, Birth of an Elephant, begins with the birthday celebration of the Elephant Prince and reveals Calise’s songwriting prowess and eletronic pop experimentation immediately. The album tells the story of a different animal with each song. Lyrics explore common experiences between species, and accentuate the endless attack of sound effects and infectious melodies.

The music speaks for itself. The stories provide the escape. Influenced by Wilco, of Montreal, and Brian Wilson, Calise’s sound spans from Hawaiian Ukulele pop to a Daniel Johnston cover to a Ryan Adams-influenced ballad about a horse named Wood.

Love the concept. This is excellent.
We want to make something that chronicles the abortion of us as fetuses.
