I can relate to all of that. i remember getting Smash for my birthday in 5th grade and listening to Americana on a cassette that i copied from my friend, that and I listened to it all the way through last night, and heard Pretty Fly on the radio today. But i definitely bought that Coheed comic book a while ago and i was rocking SSTB in my car the other day, and it was good. I used to be a huge Offspring fan. I still like 'em. But as much as I enjoyed playing their stuff in early high school, they never blew me out of the water. Which is exactly what In Keeping Secrets did. I haven't gone back to an Offspring album in quite some time, but if a week goes by where I haven't listened to Coheed, something has gone very, very wrong.

Haha I've never taken one, I was too lazy to get the grades to be in one of them. English was always one of my better subjects growing up. In fact, when I took my ACT, I scored really high on the English portion. Plus I used to regularly post in a metal group on Facebook that wouldn't even take you seriously unless you used proper grammar, so that plays a hand in my grammar skills as well.

Having no musical talent? Even if you don't like their stuff, you can't listen to [for example] the opening guitar riff of Time Consumer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH-fxeTYnLQ) off their first album and tell me it doesn't take talent (and isn't pretty, damnit!). Similarly, I might think All Time Low are generic, but I won't deny they're still talented musicians.

(In fact, I got into an argument a long time ago with someone because I said that's exactly what pissed me off about ATL! I thought they could be making much more interesting music than they were, lol.)

All Time Low are just different...

Haha, yeah, I hear that a lot about Coheed; Claudio's voice is a dealbreaker for a lot of people. It's definitely an acquired taste, and I can't fault people who don't dig it. At this point, it's just what the band's known for, on top of the prog-rock/alt-metal songwriting and impossible-to-unwravel sci-fi plot. I think we both feel the same, just about different bands: i.e. that people are missing out on a great thing for what amounts to minutia in the grand scheme of things.

My sister's in the same boat with you, actually -- she tried getting me into ATL for months after seeing them live, and while I always thought Gaskarth has a great set of pipes, I felt like he harmonized the same way on every single track, and the song structures weren't diverse enough to keep it all from bleeding together in my ears after a while. However, I'd never say the band's not talented. They do what they do incredibly well, and I'm giving them a second shot after hearing Weightless. Great song.

It really takes a lot for me to "hate" a band, so I use that word veeeery sparingly.
