This week, Dave Smallen of Bay Area band Street To Nowhere (http://www.streettonowhere.com/) joins me on recs. Check out his new cd "Charmingly Awkward" out now! The record was recorded by producer/engineer Matt Radosevich (The Matches, Taking Back Sunday.)

Dave: "If you're the type of person who likes to get into
bands before they get big this is probably a good time
to turn your attention towards the SF Bay Area scene,
which feels like its gonna explode any day now. When
you're bored on myspace look up AUDRYE SESSIONS, PUSH
TO TALK (record out on Doghouse in April), MINIPOP,
TWO GALLANTS (record out on Saddle Creek early next
year), IO, THE MATCHES (recording a rad new record for
Epitaph), DESA, ROGUE WAVE (Sub Pop), FACING NEW
YORK... Hopefully you'll find some stuff you really
like."

I just got Rogue Wave in a few days ago. So far it's sounding decent... I've got to listen to it a bit more.

yes, the matches will take everyone by storm. their debut full length was awesome, and now there is just such hype around the new album...its gonna be great. as for Facing new york, those guys are definitely worth the listen to. i remember their split with Amity (old amity)....that was a jewel.

Push to Talk, Desa, The Audrye Sessions, and Street to Nowhere played last night's STN CD release show and it was incredible. One of the best shows I've ever been to. Check all 4 of those bands out.

Everyone should check out these bands. Haha, I don't think I could push Street to Nowhere enough... Dave's put a lot into the record and there's noooo way you couldn't like at least one track.

And Audyre Sessions is just so beautiful. :ok:

I think facing new york's new cd is probably the most underatted cd of the year. It's got a pretty different song that they pull off really well.
