do/did you go to a public or private high school?

i went to public. one of the best private schools in the nation is right by me and that is blair academy. i really dont see a huge difference in the two. except that the kids in private are usually bigger douches and can afford to buy better drugs.

I too went to a public school and I was near Chaminade (private catholic school)...they were exempt from the NYS Regents exams (it's a state-wise standardized test for various topics to make sure that kids in the state are up to par with the rest of the nation/world)...anyhow...same kinda thing...they have more money and that's kinda it...and they produced a lot of catholic assholes...but a lot of kids from there go ivy cause pretty much, ya they had better standards but not by much but it's the money thing...think of yourself in the position on an ivy league admissions board...you see an application from a kid from a private school vs. a kid in a public...you think "well they both have all the same grades, SAT scores, etc...cept I know that one kid's parents definitely has a lot of money...and if he has money...we give out less loans which possibly means more money in my pocket..." as cynical as that is...I wouldn't doubt it...

I go to Private school (Catholic). The public schools in my area suck. If I was going to Public school, I'd move to Jersey. They have better Public schools.

My school (Monsignor Farrell) plays Chaminade in almost all sports every year. We beat them last year. I can't remember if we won this year. I didn't go to the game.

i went to public high school. it was a good school there was no need for me to go to private. i go to private college but that isn't a big deal except for slutty rich catholic girls. which is never bad.

public school is where it's at. my school (fremont) had/has a unfairly bad reputation in the area, so a lot of parents get their kids into other schools in the district. i don't see the point, because i ended up at the same university as a bunch of kids from my neighbourhood who transferred to one of the "better" schools (lynbrook).

I actually have a few buddies who went to Chaminade and ended up going to SUNY Stony Brook...smart guys for the most part but something always seems a bit off with them...But I think I'm seeing some of the better as most of the pricks can probably buy themselves into a better place.

i went to a private boarding school, suffield academy. its apart of the new england boarding schools like choate, deerfield, taft, andover and so on. i didnt like it then but now that im a few months out of high school, im happy i went. you meet a ton of people that most kids never would and the private boarding life is 100x different than public. once i have kids, im never sending them to a public school despite CT publics being ok

i fenced in high school. in nj fencing is really big and is huge for a lot of private schools like lawrenceville, hun academy, and for chicks oak knoll. i actually met a lot of cool people from there but then i met a shit load of rich douche fucks who i had to put in there place.
also...when i would win it was so awesome because my hs was so poor and to stick it to the rich pricks is always awesome.

private. I go to Pingry. I like the school, but I'm unsure of whether private school is really as good as it's made out to be. You've got a lot more freedom but a lot of responsibility at the same time. I just wouldn't send my kid to a private school from the very beginning--it's way too sheltering and "Oh, well in this community, everything's perfect". It's hard not to get kind of ignorant when you're surrounded by a majority of very fortunate and lucky kids.
But really, all I know is that our workload is ridiculous compared to the average high school.
I've gone to both, they really aren't all that different except for that public school is bigger and the private school kids can afford more expensive clothes and illicit drugs

haha that's cause it was built by the same guy who built the Bridgewater Mall...Like that weird seafoam green's used in both our school and the mall lol. Our fencing team's been getting better..plus all the rad people (and my friends) do fencing.
I went to a public school, our town was poor and didn't offer that many AP classes. That is the only thing I had a problem with. I now go to a small private catholic college where most the kids went to private schools and from what they tell me the only difference is the classes that some of the schools offered. Not saying their education was better, but they got to take more AP classes, whereas most public schools offer a fair amount as well. Also my roommate went to an all girls school with only like 20 girls in her class and she is fucking weird from it.

from what they tell me the only difference is the classes that some of the schools offered. it all depends on where you go and where you are from. new england private boarding schools are 100x different than a private catholic or private day school. some towns also have awful public schools in CT but there are also towns like Greenwhich that have public schools that are very very good. the only thing im gonna say about the outstanding difference that i have noticed is college. 100% of the kids from my class went to college. id say maybe 70% tops at my town HS went to college, and that includes community or junior colleges. also the quality of college is a little better but usually smart kids go to good schools no matter where you are, its just very frequent at my HS. i'd say out of the 110 kids that were in my class, 90 of them went to schools where the average SAT was 1300 or more
i can't decide whether or not the private school kids will all be rich, preppy bitches who are ashlee simpson's #1 fans
I went to a private Catholic school, and there was mayyyyybe 2% of our population that was like that, most of the kids I went to school with were just middle class, normal(whatever the hell that is) kids.....no one was extremely loaded, no one was really driving up in their own mercedes....we were just typical 9-12th graders...

I know kids at pingry. And your girls soccer team is mad good.
And yeah, our workload is definitely wayyyyy ridic compared to my public school. Buuuuut we also have one of the worst public schools in the state (I think a least)

I went to a private high school, but it wasn't stuck up or snobby or anything. It was similar to a public school except smaller, had mandatory religion classes, and the teachers cared a lot more about the students.
I have been to 5 public schools and 5 private schools over the course of my life, so I know how each are.

I went to a private high school and now go to a public university. I think that for the most part, the private schools in my area were a lot better than the publics. I'm not saying the publics were shitty; it's just I went to probably one of the most prestigious private school in the state, and there are other great ones nearby.
