very cool. keep in mind that the idea is to expose you to new music. if it only came up with bands that were 100% exactly the same as what you typed in you probably wouldn't discover anything new. just because you dont like a band that popped up doesn't mean the system is flawed. maybe a person with a slightly more open mind to music would appreciate the similarities regardless of the apparent difference in genre. i do agree that FOB is a weird match for The Fall of Troy though haha. If you disagree with its results, just give it a thumbs down (thats why the feature is there).

i searched for Bright Eyes and they already gave me a kickass band.....The Foxymorons, they are pretty fucking awesome...

although that site is cool, its pointless for alot of people. for example, I typed in Thrice and got a list that looks like the weekly top list for ap.net's last.fm group. i already know all of these artists. pandora, however, yielded much more interesting results and opened up some new doors. i could be wrong, but it looks like music plasma uses how many people listen to an artist (like last.fm) versus what the song actually sounds like. pandora has its flaws too (like charactarizing the deftones with major key tonality) but its much more interesting.

They should have a mode where it doesn't show you the Artist name until after the song is done so you can't make any judgements based on "what you've heard" from other people or their reputation. that way you make your judgement solely on the music.

I typed in Brand new and it came up with;
'Violent seas' by taproot .its average, the guys voice is a bit much
'Mud hill' by samiam which is pretty awesome. I love the guitar part
'Bells' by Hey mercedes which is a pretty cool song actually. Getting better...
'God bless you/goddamit' by a static lullaby. Probably one the only songs i like on their album

'Ohio is for lovers' by the fucking band. You know which one...the one that have one song I like 'silver bullet acoustic'

samiam is sick. Yeah I came across this thought ya'll would like it. Remember when you type in a band name it is not necessarily going to play that band or song it adds it to your likes list and from that list offers other selections. And yes will eventually play that band. Brand New is in there. It's neat too to experiment by putting in an indie station or a rock station or slower stuff and seeing what happens. It's a new site with some bugs of course but they have a hell of a lot more bands than I thought they'd have. it just played clarity by JEW for me. nice!

also it is nice how accessible it is from anywhere and the music, for streaming music, comes in really nice.
