I remember like five or six years ago there was a reality show that was like this meets The Mole. There were a bunch of people who did challenges or something, and one by one they got "killed" by a "killer", who was one of the contestants. I can't remember if it was cool or if it was lame, but I remember thinking it was cool.

murder in small town x was THE! best reality show of all time.... (mole being a close 2nd). Thats exactly what a reality show should be like... i mean, all these reality shows are scripted anyways, so why not just make it a full on script to make it good. Get the fans to PLAY ALONG! thats the coolest aspect of murder in small town x & harpers island.... WE are part of the fun. WE get to try and figure out who will die next and who the killer is.
its simple, the dialogue is useless, its basically a run of the mill horror movie...but its a lot of fun, and 1000x better than a lot of crap out there.
It wasnt picked up for a 2nd season..aka, new murder mystery.

It's going to be on Saturdays from now on starting with this week's episode.
Rather than canceling the struggling serialized murder mystery Harper's Island, CBS announced today it will move the show from Thursdays at 10pm to Saturdays at 9pm, starting May 2. According to a network release, the 13-week limited series showed improvement in DVR and online viewership, an indication that it had enough of an audience to sustain the show through the end of its run.

There's only 10 more episodes left. I don't see why they couldn't just leave it on Thursdays being that most shows are going to have their season finales soon. 8 million viewers is still decent, and moving it to Saturdays will drop them even lower.

It finished third each week in the ratings, despite following the highest rated scripted show on television. There was no way CBS was just going to live it there to lose viewers (about 2 million each episode).

Ya but the thing is they don't care if it hurts the show, by moving HI to Saturday they've already written it off as a dead. The goal with Harper's Island was to bring in some youthful viewership to CBS's geriatric based demographic (which is the least profitable, although most loyal) and it didn't work and it lost a good number of viewers each week....

I've watched the first three episodes of Harper's Island and I've really enjoyed them. It's not the best show ever, but it is something different. I'm pulling for Henry. Why would Jimmy kill the Reverend when he obviously likes Abby, which would get Henry out of the picture by marrying Trish. Also he would've had to come back to the mainland to throw Uncle Ben under that boat and then get back without anyone seeing him.

I've noticed that "Candlewick Inn" stuff is shown in a few of the murder scenes, the boat that has the shotgun hidden in it is a Candlewick Inn boat, and the girl that is set ablaze is burned with a Candlewick Inn matchbook. I'm trying to figure this out.

I think the man with the half burned face is JD and the groom's father, i only think this because after the 6th episode(?) JD runs to that mans house, and he just lets him in.
The sheriff is totally possible though. I think he may have been the original murder, then blamed Wakefield, killed him, and covered it up.
lindZ629

I think the half burned face guy is someone who survived Wakefield's first wave of killings. I think there was something on Harper's Globe about it.
Here it is:
Wakefield Murders Sheriff’s Wife on Killing Rampage
By J.J. Whispers NEWS REPORTER
Seattle Police have released the names of the victims in the brutal and deranged killing rampage that took place on Harper’s Island. The Tacoma man, John Wakefield, stabbed, burned, decapitated and hanged more than eleven victims, leaving six dead, in various locations around the island before being shot dead by Sheriff Charles Mills. Police are unsure of Wakefield’s motive although three of his victims were law enforcement and another was identified as Sarah Mills of Harper’s Island, the Sheriff’s wife.
Witnesses told Police that they heard an explosion in the harbor and then followed screams to a large willow tree on the outskirts of town where they found three bodies hanging – one of them being Sarah Mills and another, Kate Seaver, a secretary at the Sheriff’s Office.
Also killed were fishing boat captain, Harris Antonini, of Seattle; the harbor master, Christopher Cullen, of Harper’s Island; Deputy Joshua Aiken of Harper’s Island; and fisherman, Randall Martin, of Harper’s Island. There were five other victims to survive with one, Deputy Cole Harkin, in critical condition for third degree burns at the Washington Pacific University Burn Center.
Further investigation is pending as this sleepy vacation island mourns the loss of five highly regarded citizens and tries to heal from this senseless tragedy.

No matter who it is, you always know who's going to die.
When someone walks off by themself to go do something nice, they're dead.
Richard got harpooned while he was on the phone making sure his family was OK, the big guy (name?) got killed while he was burning the money, I forget what Uncle Marty was doing, but he was alone, the girl who got lit on fire was chasing after her dog, etc.
I think the only exceptions were Trish's dad, right? And Booth, but he shot himself.
And Hunter, but he was a dick, he deserved to get a shotgun blast to the face.
And Cousin Ben, but I don't think he counts.
Damn. Too many exceptions, I think my theory has been disproved...

ONLY READ THIS IF YOU ARE UP TO EPISODE 10
If you think about it Jimmy is a BIG suspect:
-richard died with a harpoon (jimmy is a fisherman)
- half-burned face guy died with arrows (jimmy is seen deer hunting with shane)
-kelly and maggie hanged (he is seen tying ropes and whatnot)
it could be henry because there is this blog thing that shows whe henry left the note to trish pretending to be hunter, the handwriting was exactly the same as wakefield's diary.
But then it could be jimmy because when he saw the "note from wakefield that fell of jd" the page wasn't burned but the whole book was? so maybe jimmy had it on him before.
Also in the wakefield letter it doesnt say if child is boy or girl it might be henry you never knew, his aprents are dead, remember?
points to consider:
- that maybe the person who pulled abby's leg in the tunnel was the sheriff?
- the uncle was being blackmailed by the killer so he got money and thats why he also had a gun?
- wakefield's child is chloe.
-in one of the earlier episodes she was in the woods at the shrine at wakefield's grave.
-she is blond and from the pics of wakefield he seems to have light hair.
- or if its henry, jd found out and thats why he died..
Try to notice any similarities...

it could be shea because
1. She was one of the people that could have pulled abby's leg in the tunnel.
2. She was walking while others were in the tunnel and could have easily jumped down in there through one of the road holes.
3. She conveniently saw madison's hand while they were driving down the road at night.
4. She could have planted the articles in Richard's briefcase.
