I like the acoustic version of "Thunder" more than the electric one. I hope they don't put some of the demos I heard on the CD. The one song is almost LFO-ish (remember "Summer Girls")

I'm pretty sure these are the only two songs BLG has ever recorded...I think the other things you may have heard are demos for other projects or just for fun n all that good stuff. Hopefully we got some new trackz comin soon.

The singer used to be in a local band called The Drive. Funny thing is, not sure if it is just him or the band, but he/they are managed by the guy that used to do LFO.

Sorry RoKo, this doesn't do it for me. Gives me the same Panic! vibe, catchy as shit but where's the heart?

JunkBondTrader
11/30/05, 06:54 AM
ehhh they are meh......some of the melodies seem kind of borderline boy-bandish, especially on the great escape. i dont know. i have a feeling they are going to be big in 2006......who knows. there is stuff that is alot worse.

Rohan Kohli
11/30/05, 07:09 AM
Yeah, I don't think everyone's gonna love the band, but then again, how many bands can say they appeal to everyone? I'm just a huge fan of this kind of music, and this hits the spot.

Yeh I can hear the boy-bandish moments. But i'm liking the great escape. Although I find them similar to The All-American Rejects (which isn't a bad thing)

Reminds me of the All-American Rejects. It's good stuff. I want more music from them, so I can form a solid opinion of them.

This stuff is really good. Great vocals and good lyrics. The chord sequence in 'The great escape' has been done to death though but, hell, if it aint broke...

alright. i was the one who sent the purevolume link to rohan a few months back. if anyone was in touch with the boston scene this is a conglomeration of former band members. the lead singer is martin, who, as someone said, spend a very brief amount of time replacing ben (ex-treos singer). i believe the majority of the band is comprised of strutter/lancaster gentlemen.

from what i heard about this band is that columbia is picking them up as soon as all their shit is together. columbia was giving someone (the singer or the manager or someone. i don't know) who has to do with the band money to rent out a practice room in NY for a long time while the singer was holding auditions for the positions of the band.

but yeah thats what i heard. i don't know if its true though.

Pretty much true. My friend Ryan was supposed to try out to be the drummer in this band but decided not to do it because it's not really his kind of thing. Martin had sent him some songs, and Ryan then passed them along to me. These guys are definitly going to be HUGE.

Lancaster was incredible live. Martin has an incredible voice. I'm not gonna say this stuff is my favorite, I mean it is kind of a shame that the same kid who wrote For a Dream is writing this stuff three years later, but at the same time I can't wait for this stuff to be huge. I hope it's the kind of thing where once they establish themselves they start experimenting a bit more, because he/they are definitely capable of something better.
