A few years ago I bought some stuff from interpunk but had to pay £10 before the post office would give me the package. Does this still happen and if so does it also happen with smartpunk etc?

Alternatively can you suggest a UK based website with similar variety and large choice?

I haven't used Interpunk, but I once imported some things from Zambooie and they charged me. Basically, there's a maximum total you can import before they charge you. I cannot remember the price, but if you exceed it, they charge you.

What I have done since then is split my orders.

I think you should be able to find the details on a post office or government website.
