i recommend reading an article by Naomi Klein called "Baghdad Year Zero"
i swear i hate my us foreign policy class with a passion but it has definitely taught me a lot of stuff that i didnt know.
in short...the article goes on about how bremer pretty much tried to liquidate all of iraqs assets so foreign investment could come in. when people would not do it illegaly he made the iraq constitution allow him to do it. because of bremer over 500,000 people lost their jobs to entice foreign investors. bremer thought these people would not fight back...but instead a lot of these people are the ones now fighting.
all in all its a great read. id post it in here but it is really long.
