Since there are quite a few FBR threads out there, I decided to make an official one. Discuss upcoming releases, the bands on the bands on the label, and just the general direction that you think the label is headed...
TOPIC #1:
Fueled By Ramen is going to hell... Yes or No? Defend your case...

Shitty label is shitty. Dumb thread is dumb

I wish that FBR would have given more support to Forgive Durden's new record.

FD is literally the only good band on this label, and Razias Shadow (which I do enjoy alot) is nowhere near as good as Wonderland

You want to hear a extremely sad stat about Razia's Shadow?
Jeferee Star's latest album outsold it.

the saddest part about that is that Jeffree Starr's last release was an EP...
i do agree that the lebel couldve supported Razia's Shadow more, but i think the fact that they got alot of big names on there, alongside the fact that they managed to give Dutton an hour-long set at Bamboolze signals some hope for the label...

Razia's Shadow isn't an easy album to push though, so I don't fault the label for that. I think they're trying with releasing the instrumentals and screenplay. If some schools get ahold of it, you never know.

they are giving the music and such away for free to troupes who want them... i am trying to convince my friends in the drama department to put it on... it would be absolutely amazing if they did...

Yeah, you never know. It would be a really tough production to get together because of the large scope and different singing styles. I bet if one school gets ahold of it and it's well received, it could spread. Either way, it was a smart thing for FBR to do

The one thing I do fault the label is for not at least trying a little harder. They could have pushed all the guest vocalists a little and maybe drummed up some interest, but the only hype I saw from it was on this site.

Razia's Shadow is fucking incredible.
And FBR kicks ass some of the time. I'm worried about their future, however.

it was... i can see razia's shadow becoming the new "it" musical for schools to put on...
in that sense it would be difficult, but it would also be a little easier since the actual storyline i very vague in terms of actual setting and the realy solid details on HOW the lamps and such are important to the world...

there were quite a few viral sites for the release...
it wouldve been difficult to hype the album, because it wouldve read "a showtunes musical with big stars"
making most people go WTF... i thought they pushed it good, but it definetely couldve been pushed more, especially to the fans of the individual bands who wouldnt normally check out forgive durden (MewithoutYou fans, for the most part, may not pay attention to FBR much...)
i think the fact that the album HAD some big nemes shows how much faith FBR had in DUtton, since i am sure Bemis and Conley and Weiss didnt record for cheap...

i think Razia's Shadow shows FBR isnt going to hell as quicky as people think... they released a damn good album from Less Than Jake in the past few years too... i think their music in the future will definetely be more pop-rock based, but its not necessarily a bad thing since the label evidently supports such ambitious projects as Razia's Shadow and some non-poprock bands like Forgive Durden and Phantom Planet

Forgive Durden are amazing, Fall Out Boy are great, I enjoy Paramore, Phantom Planet had some good releases before they went on hiatus, I enjoy the first TAI album...I think that's about it.

Jersey and The Stereo were so rad -- I am old when I can remember FBR's very first days, being touted as the next Drive Thru. In a way, that's true in an unfortunate sense haha
Oh yeah, they also released that really good Yellowcard EP way back when.

Maybe if they kicked out the singer and whoever writes the lyrics. They could become a good straight up pop band.

Does anyone know what happened between Atlantic (FBR's distributor) and Youtube? Apparently there's a lawsuit involved, and it's the reason why all the videos from FBR's youtube channel have been removed.

I can't stand the label anymore now that The Hush Sound and Phantom Planet are on hiatus. They also picked Powerspace over 2*Sweet when they were signing bands, which inevitably lead to their break up (2*sweet) :(

This has now been solved, and most of the videos are back on Youtube (excellent quality as well)
Anyone knows how that happened?

So I keep seeing these "Fueled by Ramen bands pick their 5 favorite albums from Fueled by Ramen" to promote the 15 year anniversary and I hate to sound like a snob but the lists kinda suck. You'd think they were only celebrating a 5 year anniversary with some of the selections. I'm curious what your picks would be:
My top 5 are:
5. Less Than Jake - Goodbye Blue & White
4. The Impossibles - Return
3. Panic at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.
2. The Hippos - Forget the World (I like Heads are Gonna Roll more but it wasn't released by FBR... if it was it'd have been my Number 1)
1. Punchline - 37 Everywhere!

hmmm...
discount - love, billy
fall out boy - take this to your grave
ann beretta - bitter tongues

whippersnapper - appearances wear thin
honorable mentions:
paramore - all we know is falling
the academy is... - almost here
yellowcard - underdog

Paramore - All We Know Is Falling
Paramore - RIOT!
Paramore - Brand New Eyes
The Academy Is... - Santi
Gym Class Heroes - As Cruel As School Children
...yeah. It makes me look like a 15 year old girl, but these are definitely my top 5.
