Clearly America is the greatest country in the world because our government doesn't have better things to do than worry about the BCS. And ignoring that fact what do they plan to accomplish, the NCAA isn't breaking any laws as far as I can tell so the government has no reason to get involved.

I agree that the BCS sucks sometimes but Jesus Christ. There is no need for the friggin government to get involved.

Although it is dumb, I hope it results in a playoff format for the game.

"Senate Bill 1790, filed Tuesday by state Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, would prohibit Texas NCAA teams from playing in post-season games unless the games are 'part of a national playoff system.'"

How can that even be legal? This is all pretty much entirely funded by private organizations the government shouldn't be able to do anything.

I'm just curious, for people who want a playoff system how many teams do you think should get in?

I like an idea that hasnt been thrown out there much but sounds right to me ...12. The top 4 ranked teams get byes, and the remaining 5-12 play on the opening weekend. Four would be eliminated, and by the next week, it would be down to eight teams. So for seeds 5-12, you need to win 4 games to win it all. If you are 1-4, you need 3. I think that would work the best because it rewards the best teams. If USC goes 11-0 and is #1, while Georgia goes 8-3 and finishes #12, they shouldnt start from the same position come postseason time.

8 is obviously a good even number 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5
But I like the 12 team idea too, with teams that are in the top 4 getting byes to commend their position atop the nation.
Either way, there should be a playoff system. If Division I-AA and Division III have it, why can't Division I?
