i like the fact that every game is due or die. there are even really exciting games in September. Is anyone paying attention to college basketball right now?

now that's just dumb
The only possible change that would make sense is a 4 or 8 team playoff max

I actually like the bowl system, it rewards more teams tahn a playoff would.
I can understand a 4 team playoff, like the winners of two bowls play, but 32 is way too much.

exactly, BCS, or a slightly revised BCS is fine

i'm sure they'd keep bowl games for the teams not in the playoffs. I still like the idea of 12 teams in the playoffs too.

I was thinking 8 teams would play bowl games and like the final 4 would play, say the Orange Bowl and the Rose Bowl and the National Championship would be the Fiesta Bowl and it would rotate kind of like it does now

and have bowl games for the other team, sort of like the NIT of Basketball, except that would not be a tournament

I think it would have to be at least a 16 game system. The final 8 teams would play in the big time bowl games. Also I think this is how it should go.
Automatic Bids for the Conference Winners including Mid-Majors and then the following top teams after that.

the Playoff System Will Not Happen. Colleges Make Too Much Money Off Of Bowl Games.

yeah, and the MLB players union will never agree to strict steroid testing and penalties.
A congressional investigation tends to change things.

agreed, plus I think its actually better this way anyways.

What?
You are talking different issues, national championships are a little different than illegal activities.

Yes I understand the nature of each issue. However, Congress considers itself involved because the BCS is a multi-million dollar operation. One senator has already been quoted about "the people wanting a playoff", and the political points they'll score with their districts (esp those in college football hotbed areas) is enough incentive for them to force change. I don't think they have any business getting involved, but they are.

well he is sort of correct. congress or the senate i think maybe both have been quoted saying they want a change. you never know what could happen I'm sure the government could make some kind of argument along the lines of unfair advantage to smaller schools and so on. who knows.

actually if you took the time to read up on the way our government works before you started spewing a bunch of b.s., you would have read that Congress has a committee called the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee - which is in charge of regulating the American sports industry, which the NCAA is apart of.

they also called for change in 2003 i think.

Like i said in 2003 they went after the BCS because of the unfairness to smaller teams. They said themselves they can't force the change, but all it took for the MLB to change was the hearing they werent even forced.

There are numerous articles on the subject, but I chose this one specifically because Rep. Joe Barton is quoted as the following: "I don't have legislation in mind, and I hope none will be necessary"
I don't ever expect legislation to actually be made regarding the BCS, but much like the baseball situation, the attention given to the subject will probably force the NCAA's hand like it did MLB's.
And to SuperJoe, I wouldnt talk down to anyone that didn't classify my posts as asinine and wonder "where i came up with this shit", when its a national news report published everywhere.
