Album ReviewReview: Scene in Stereo - Maps
Posted by Susan Frances on 04/29/08
The Billboard
Scene In Stereo have teamed up with AbsolutePunk to bring you a free download of our debut release, Maps. Over the past few years we have been through a lot: writing constantly, recording and a change in our current lineup as well as a change in our name (formerly Stu’s Shoes). But finally we have new music for you. Maps consists of songs that were written in the midst of our transition as a band as well as much more recently written tracks that reflect our changing sound. With this release we really wanted our focus to be on getting the songs out to as many people as possible, which is why we are offering this absolutely free download. With that in mind, enjoy! And tell all your friends to come check out some free tunes.

Tracklist
1) Now or Never
2) Dispatch
3) Turn Around
4) All I Am
5) Walls
6) We’re Alive
7) Stay
8) Remember Me

Biography
Life is a series of changes that you cannot avoid. Much in the same way, a band’s life will undoubtedly be shaped by the changes they encounter along the way. Nothing could be more true of Scene In Stereo’s journey as friends, as humans, and as a band.

Over the past few years this young group of musicians has taken everything about their music they knew so well and transformed it into something new while still staying true to who they are as a band.

With their debut release, Maps, Scene In Stereo hope to show listeners how far they have come in a relatively short time. Formerly known as Stu’s Shoes, these four high school friends have come together to create something that is far greater than the sum of its parts.

The new album, produced and recorded by Kevin Hahn (Stu’s Shoes’ Bright Stars & Battle Scars EP) reflects on living life, love and accepting the change that inevitably finds us all.

Maps features a mix of the old and the new. Tracks such as “Turn Around” and “Walls” are reminiscent of a more poppy sound and will be familiar to long time fans, as they were written first and relate to the changes of not only the band, but of people as individuals.

In contrast, the rest of the album portrays a maturing sound and evolving themes of living life and finding the will to accept the cards that are dealt to you, as evident in songs like “Now or Never” and “Stay”, which feature a darker, heavier and maturing sound.

Listeners will find Maps to be a true testament to the changes we all face in life. Scene In Stereo have come a long way in a short time, and are by no means anywhere near the end of their journey. They are just glad to get the opportunity to share it with all of you.

Hey friends,

Although I've said it plenty, great and solid album, great feel, great producing. It's a definite gem.
