Formed in July 2004 when current Indianapolis guitar player Norman Smith (ex-Farewell to Fashion) and his bandmates were left stranded in Florida on tour. "I woke up that morning and went outside to smoke a cigarette--that's when I realized someone broke into the trailer," says Smith. With no new equipment and no means to replace the old, Smith headed back to his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Having not being home for long, Smith met up with future members Ren Richardson (guitar) and Ben Vangel (vocals) at a party and learned of his misfortune. With misfortune turning into opportunity, Indianapolis was born. Shortly thereafter, Josh Rister (guitar) and Will Driver (drums) were added along with pianist Luke Abers (ex-Rookie of the Year) to round out the crew.
Already, 2005 has been a very eventful year for Indianapolis. In late April, Indy hit the studio to record their full-length record "Stab! Stab! Stab!" with Producer Tyler Orr at First Street Studio in Cleveland, Tennessee. With the addition of bassist Perry Lewis (ex-Farewell to Fashion), a fall tour to be announced, the release of "Stab! Stab! Stab!" in mid-to-late August 2005, and the best live show in N.C., Indianapolis is sure to be bring the fun to a city near you.
