Urgency began as a nameless project between Jordan Nicometo and Justin Reese. Finding the sound they wanted was never a problem. Finding musicians with the same ideals, drive, and sense of direction wasn't as easy. The duo sat patiently, upon a complete record of music, waiting for someone whose voice fit the music. Enter: Tim Knapp, a singer who had yet to find a solid group of musicians with a dedication and love for music equal to that of his own. It was by a mere chance that he had heard the project's music in the first place. But he knew it was exactly what he had been looking for all along. After only a few pre-production recording sessions with the prospective vocalist, the threesome started to feel the puzzle was finally piecing itself together. The three pressed on in the proceeding months; writing and fine tuning the first impression they would give the world.
June of 2006 brought warmer weather, brighter sun, and the still-nameless band to Viking Studios in Medina NY to record their debut EP. Over the course of three days, the band not only grew tighter as a circle of musicians, but as friends also.
Anyone who has ever been in a band knows that besides writing the actual music, naming yourselves is one of the most difficult tasks you can undertake. This time around would prove to be just as challenging as ever. What word defined what these three musicians stood for? What simple word captured the band's sense of love for music, sense of dedication, sense of drive, sense of... urgency? And so the three-piece, once-nameless band now found themselves with a name that properly encompassed their ideals.
Urgency's debut EP, "Beauty Never Ceases", is a collection of songs with driving music, sincere yet catchy vocals, and lyrics that instill a sense of hope. Beyond that, it's just a mere glimpse into the potential of this band.
