London is a product of a new generation. His savvy online creativity has accelerated his career into the fast lane of both the music and fashion worlds. He’s a content creating machine, consistently releasing mixtapes, videos and personally written blog posts. Through his manipulation of the internet, he’s been able to create close personal relationships with fans around the world. Those fans have greeted his genre bending mix of uplifting pop, hip hop, soul and electronica with open arms. Keep up with London on Twitter and Facebook, but also make sure to check out his own blog in addition to his blog on the leading urban tastemaker website, Hypebeast. GQ is paying attention; they ran a full page “Rebel Style” feature in December complimenting that “Theophilus London isn’t just a rapper – he’s a Morrissey obsessed songwriter who, at age 22, has already become a style Icon.” NME has embraced London as well, gloating that "...his patter is sumptuous, his look untouchable, his soundscapes plucked from mythical ghetto neverlands...he's the real deal."
London’s 2009 This Charming Mixtape release introduced his voracious pop appetite and minted him as an artist to watch beyond mere hype. Gliding effortlessly from clubby original productions to 90s rave throwbacks, afropop electrojams, Kraftwerk samples, a backbreaking bass refix of a Whitney Houston torch song—all of it stitched together with London's breathy, unpredictable flow—This Charming Mixtape's wildfire appeal soon saw London igniting clubs in Europe and America with stunning live performances. He then hooked up with Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound and released the singles “Humdrum Down” and the aforementioned “Flying Overseas.” London is fresh off three sold out NYC shows in which he shared the stage with Little Dragon. Look for upcoming tour news coming soon.
Theophilus London’s debut album will be out this spring on Warner Bros. Records.
