Direct Hit

Pop-punk outfit Direct Hit started out as a side project for Nick Woods of Madison-Milwaukee band The Box Social. But when the Social broke up last year, Woods decided to devote more attention to Direct Hit, carrying on with the rambunctious guitar rock of his former band. The group has already released two digital EPs called 1 and 2, and plans to follow up with 3 in fall and 4 and 5 in winter. Woods likens the gradual roll out of new material to comic books, “but with more flagrant self-promotion.” Actually, the comic-book comparison is spot-on for a band bursting with color and youthful exuberance.
