The Empire State is a pop band from Boston, MA consisting of singer and piano player Tyler Reardon, guitarist Zack Currier, and drummer Mark Hylander.
After Reardon and Hylander parted ways with their former band, they knew they had to bring something new to the table. “The music industry is so inflated with pop rock music these days and it gets so hard to distinguish between all of the bands doing the same thing; we try to bring something different to listen to while still sticking to our pop rock roots” says singer and piano player Tyler Reardon. “We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, just steering it in a different direction”
Though the band is relatively new, The Empire State are no rookies to the world of pop music. “We’ve all been playing in bands since we were kids” says drummer Mark Hylander, “We’ve done fairly well in our respective projects, playing on the Warped Tour, opening for bands like Cartel, Mayday Parade, and A Rocket To The Moon, and touring up and down the east coast. Now it’s time to take a more direct approach and take our music as far as we can, reaching as many people as possible.”
The Empire State are currently in the studio recording their debut EP with esteemed producer Brad McCarthy(A Rocket To The Moon, View From An Airplane), and cowriting with the likes of Nick Santino(ARTTM). TES’s record is set for a late spring release date and the band plans to be touring on the record for the greater part of 2011.
