Young Volcanoes condenses four years of wandering and wondering into 37 minutes. Beginning in a basement in 24-year-old singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Zac Clark's hometown of Essex Junction, Vermont, the ten songs trace a path up and down the east coast, where the record was recorded bit by bit in studios in five states, while Zac played piano and organ as a live and in-studio keyboard player for local and major-label bands alike, including Wind-up Records act The Queen Killing Kings and Run For Cover Records' The Tower & The Fool, and played for audiences across the country ranging in size from 20 to 2000. Produced by Zac and fellow bandmates Michael Poorman and Erin Sidney in Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York, and mixed by Brian Scheuble (John Mayer, Elton John, Tom Petty) in Los Angeles, Young Volcanoes harnesses the attitude, urgency and quality of 70's rock and roll to bring pop music back to a time when all that mattered was a story and a song.
