DISTANCES are a melodic punk rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Influenced by the old school stylings of their genre, their debut self-titled EP is rich with catchy melodies and heavy-hitting hooks.
A musical partnership between Nicholas Herzog (Waster/Everyone Everywhere) and Florian Maier led to the formation of DISTANCES in 2012, when the pair were joined by DJ Sangalang (The All Night/Common Lives) and Chris Ferguson (The Afterbeat). The October release of the Distances EP was met with a swell of fan support, the 4-song collection reaching 200 downloads in its first week and hitting the 500 download mark just after the New Year.
In ten short months, DISTANCES have made astonishing strides, catching the attention of Canadian, US, and German press, and sharing Winnipeg stages with the likes of Title Fight, Living With Lions, Brighter Brightest, and Everyone Everywhere. The Distances EP earned a 4/5 on PunkNews.org and received glowing reviews from taste-maker blogs Dying Scene and F*** Yeah Pop-Punk. With the addition of Dylan James (Dangercat) to the bandís roster and a full-length album on the horizon, DISTANCES is poised to make 2013 a year to remember.
