Lame-O Records is proud and excited to announce their new signing, Philadelphia locals The Weaks. The band's first full EP The World Is A Terrible Place And I Hate Myself And Want To Die will be released on Lame-O Records February 11th, 2014. Pre-orders for the EP are available here:
Led by the songwriting powerhouse duo Evan Bernard and Chris Baglivo, The Weaks has evolved from a Philadelphia music collective to a full time band for their first collaborative EP The World Is A Terrible Place And I Hate Myself And Want To Die. From the ashes of the late Dangerous Ponies, the band has formed a place in the hearts of the Philadelphia scene through their impressive knack for writing hooks that chew bubble gum and kick ass. With influences ranging from Weezer to Thin Lizzy to The Ergs, the songwriting team delivers song after song of straight to the point powerful pop backed by the occasional impassioned shout and a healthy tinge of fuzz.
After developing a strong back catalogue of singles through their Song A Week project, The Weaks’ release of The World Is A Terrible Place…brings them forward as a fully developed band ready to take the music scene by storm. A clever combination of light-hearted fun and sincere sentiment, the EP delivers immediately and with no nonsense. Set to be released on a one sided 12'' record, through Lame-O Records, pre-order bundles include T-shirts hand screen printed by the band and bottles of hot sauce cooked and bottled by Bernard. Although only the debut from this young band, The World Is A Terrible Place And I Hate Myself And I Want To Die feels like an inevitable showcase of creativity and talent you can not help but fall for on the first chord strum.
