The Billboard Los Skarnales Leading Houston's local music scene, Los Skarnales have kept their reputation by sticking to a unique blend of sound that is what some might describe as "Third Coast." This blend of music comes from the influence of Jamaican ska, rockabilly, and reggae. Los Skarnales are known mostly for an unmistakable energy as they perform across Texas, the U.S., and Mexico. Members are Felipe Galvan on vocals and percussion, Roberto Rodriguez on accordion, Nick Gaitan on the upright bass, Ryan Scroggins playing the organ, Jeremy Pena on guitar, and Patrick Wheeler behind the drums. The band has won awards for consecutive years in Houston under many categories from best Rock en Espanol (2003, 2004, 2005) to Best Bassist (2004, 2005) and current album "Pachuco Boogie Sound System" has also been nomintated for the "album of the year" in Houston press. Pachuco Boogie has also been mentioned in Texas Music Magazine as one of the top 30 albums in Texas of 05. . The album, "Pachuco Boogie Sound System," (Megalith Records) has begun building a following throughout the U.S as well as Mexico, picking up new fans everywhere it is heard. It is alsohas been released in Spain October 05 under Megalith Records (Spain).
Houston's Own, Los Skarnales are a collective of Houston musicans playing in hybrids of styles ranging from ska, rockabilly, punk, soul, conjunto among many others. Their latest album, "Pachuco Boogie Sound System" has just been released in Spain on Megalith records as of October 2005. it is the fastest selling album on megalith U.S. Members of Los Skarnales can also be found performing around town with and in other groups such as the Igents, Sean REefer and the REsin VAlley Boys, Simpleton among many others.
