Not many groups can make it through a whole set playing with rectangular cardboard masks on their faces. The fact that each memberís mask has a pixilated cartoon version of his face on it, and that the masks are also worn during interviews, tells you that the BEAT CRUSADERS are a punk band with a unique sense of style-- and humor.
But just because their videos and lyrics may be funny, donít be fooled into thinking that the groupís musical talent is also a joke. Whether they're playing fast or super fast, the BEAT CRUSADERS offer up power-pop-punk about as good as it comes. They are a band that knows how to rock, and also how to get the audience to rock along with them. With their short, spiky, and occasionally syth-tinged songs, the BEAT CRUSADERS have managed to go from darlings of the indie scene to major Top 5 success in a very short time. In spite of having only made a major label debut in 2004, lead vocalist Toru Hidaka has arranged and produced some of Japanís top musicians and supervised the musical aspects of the hit animated series ďBECKĒ.
