Think of the music industry. Think of the next big thing. Think of how music has changed and how it continues to be perceived in different ways. This is exactly what five gentlemen from the heart of the Midwest are striving to make people do with their art-form. Think. It is seldom that popular music is thought of as an art anymore. It is seldom that people feel any means of expression through what they listen to anymore. It is seldom that musical integrity is allowed to be totally honest anymore. These are the notions that Wisconsin natives From The Headline hope to dispel.

Conceived in the winter of 2005, From The Headline was really the merging of an already existent band and the addition of other musicians. Mark Glatzel (piano), Jason Wasemiller (guitar), and Kyle Wolff (drums) were in a Waukesha-based band in 2004 and decided to call it quits, but not before opting to continue playing with each other and completely revamp their sound. They sought out another guitarist to help solidify their sound. Jason offered their friend and previous band mate Kyle Shaffer an audition for the group. After a few rehearsal sessions, Kyle Shaffer was brought on as a full time member. After gaining a guitarist and friend in Kyle Shaffer, the four began their search for a bassist.

After multiple auditions, the band got a call from Lee Gianou, a bassist from Milwaukee-based electronica/indie pioneers, El Oso. It took one audition to feel the chemistry in the room with the new musician. The music was suddenly more grounded, reinforced by Lees confident, expressive bass playing. Solidified as a musical unit and a cohesive group of friends, From The Headline was ready for the challenges set forth before them.

Combining pop sensibility with deeply meaningful, and energetic song arrangements, From The Headline seems to blur the line between art and pop. While the songs are easy to listen to and convey certain sensitivity toward song writing, they also contain deeper emotions and an honesty that commands respect. Mark Glatzels lyrical craft and passionate delivery soar above a canopy of interplay between Jason Wasemiller and Kyle Shaffers guitar conversations. The rhythm section of Kyle Wolff and Lee Gianou offer a solid floor to stand (or dance) on, providing rhythms that groove with an intensity normally only found in jam band or progressive settings. It is the combination of all these things that set From The Headline apart from other bands in their scene. But it is up to you, the listener, to decide what you think of them. That, after all, is the goal.
