The Billboard Lemuria formed in 2004 with Sheena Ozzella on guitar, Alexander Kerns on drums and Jason Draper of Buffalo on bass. The band has released a handful of smaller releases and split albums with other bands before releasing Get Better on Asian Man Records, and Pebble on their more recent home, Bridge 9 Records.
Kerns had been in contact with Asian Man owner Mike Park as the label traded with Mr. Kerns’ label. Mr. Park was a listener of the Lemuria and Mr. Kerns was looking for a label to put out his band’s album. Mr. Park liked what he heard and agreed to release the album.
Lemuria has toured all over the country and even took a two-month trek with Boston-based punk band Ringers around Europe that brought them to audiences in England, as well as Puerto Rico, Ireland and Germany, to name a few, and have toured the states with The Queers, Bomb The Music Industry!, Andrew Jackson Jihad, New Found Glory, giving them exposure to a wider fan base and experience playing all kinds of venues.'
They also became a regular at the Gainesville, FL based festival, The Fest, playing for the first time in 2006 and continuing to play every year since. When questioned about their touring schedule, Lemuria often express an affinity for their lifestyle:
"We're on tour a lot. It's one of the reasons we do the band. It's an excuse to travel. You go to a different city every day and show people your art."
