The vinyl is definitely faster than the version I'm used to. Kind of weirding me out because the tones are the same.

Hmm. I kind of dig this faster pace for Queen of Lower Chelsea.

Seeing Limbeck live is one of my greatest joys in life. tonight was awesome. Minus the 25 minutes of ranchero music being played out of a cell phone on the train ride there. but damn i miss seeing them every other month.

Just got my Enema of the State LP today. Pumped. Pull 'er out, and there's a bunch of scratches in Dysentery Gary. Luckily it plays through with no skips and just a little more static, but what the fuck, internet, my last 3 vinyl orders have been scratched or warped. Displeased. Displeased.

Sherwood & Hanson in Tucson?

Got a new phone today. It's capable of cool stuff, so I figure what the hell (and I need distraction from 3 dollar whiskeys for the sake of my night). Anyways. Drove solo tempe to tucson for this one. I'm that bored, yes. Sherwood fucking rocked. Never heard them before, even though I know they played my prom senior year (way to forget your tickets 4.5 years ago, Tyler). Great drummer, and ik normally don't notice them. Reminded me of john o'reilly jr on the format and fun records aka damn good pop drumming. Singer has some serious pipes and solid bass rhythm. I would love to play lead in a band like this with maybe a little more punk to their pop. So much room for pop. And holy shit, Anton, I'm finally gonna see Hanson. Win.

Tonight made my whole summer. I so wish I could've been in Detroit to see the Red Wings lose a game 7 for the Cup in person. It's probably a little demented how much I don't like that team, but this is probably one of the best sports night's I've had, and maybe will ever have. Thank you, Max Talbot. Thank you, Crossbar. G'dammit that was such an awesome game.

just bought blink tickets for the tempe date.. i was excited after reading about the bands on the tour and the stories in rolling stone and online about cheap 20 dollar GA tickets, so i figured the tempe show, which is only general admission, would be kinda cheap. 70 fucking dollars a ticket. and we have to get pepper and slightly stoopid first, then only FOB and Blink. because stoner reggae and pop punk mix so nicely and all... For 70 bucks a pop this had better not sound as awful as tempe music fest annually does in this location.

but at least i'll finally get to see blink.

I'm sittin in the airport waiting for my flight back home listening to Honky Chateau. This one always sounds good in the morning.. Great weekend though. Recording with Bones again was too much fun, and i think John's new songs turned out pretty damn well. Talent was abundant in the studio all weekend. His new players are beyond impressive. Absolutely can't wait to hear these tracks after mixing. I'm also pretty excited to hear Ted's record since I finally got it from him last night. I don't know what to expect, so i'm gonna try it out on the plane. Time to go.

current all time ish.

so i just saw someone post a top 25 "all time" albums list. my all time changes every day, but i feel like i can make a decent list for where i'm at today, all time. not really in order other than how i thought of them, and then additional albums by the same artist.

Osker - Idle Will Kill
Midtown - Save The World, Lose The Girl
Midtown - Forget What You Know
Midtown - Living Well Is The Best Revenge
Bruce Springsteen - The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle

The Benjamins - The Art of Disappointment
Steel Train - For You My Dear (EP)
The Movielife - This Time Next Year
The Movielife - ..Have A Gambling Problem (EP)
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
Jimmy Eat World - Futures
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Less Than Jake - Anthem
Less Than Jake - GNV FLA
Face To Face - Face To Face
Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience
Whiskeytown - Strangers Almanac
Counting Crows - Recovering The Satellites
The Wallflowers - Rebel, Sweetheart
House of Fools - Live & Learn
Limbeck - Hi, Everything's Great
Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers - Americano!
Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon

Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit
Alkaline Trio - From Here To Infirmary
Alkaline Trio - Maybe I'll Catch Fire

Allister - Last Stop Suburbia
Rx Bandits - Progress
Rx Bandits - The Resignation
Ben Harper - Lifeline
Rocky Votolato - Makers
Josh Ritter - The Historical Conquests Of...
The Academy Is... - Almost Here

by my count i'd only want to skip 5 songs on all the albums on the whole list, and i'd probably sit through em anyways.

some damn good albums missed my cut by having two or three songs i'd skip (Heartbreaker, Folie A Deux, TTTYG, The Weight Is A Gift, Most Dylan), or sometimes one or two i really don't want to hear that kind of skew how much i really like the rest of the album (Agony & Irony, Room For Squares), and sometimes i realize something is a nearly flawless album, but i just don't think i'd bring it up when talking about my favorite music so I couldn't justify it being there (sorry, Never Take Friendship Personal, Fight Songs, Deja, Real Boy, El Cielo and For Everyman), but i might do this every so often so i can rip myself apart for what i forgot this time and next time. i'm gonna be pissed later that i didn't try to number them. but that'd take days.

Dorsey - Covered in Shitwater.

So last night I get a text message from John that just says "The last batch of records is soaking in shit."
"What?"
"6 inches of sewage in the basement".

I then realized that a lot more than the remaining copies of our first album were probably soaking in shit water.

PJ is supposed to be heading back to AZ this weekend, and was going to sell his old bass cab and old bass today to cover some costs for the trip. now they've been shitwatered. John's $600 keyboard. shitwatered. His ill-advised purchase of a $150 1950s Horner accordion? shitwatered (in John's words, "never even used it, now it's filled with shit"). I haven't talked to Alex yet, but I hear he's suffered the worst since well, most of the gear there was his. Vox Tonelab, tube screamer, his fuckin sweet 70s fender combo amp, his box full of harmonicas, his American Strat, Japanese thinline telecaster, some really nice ass headphones, and probably a lot of other gear that's now seemingly ruined. Blades's bass drum also got shitwatered. So that's a real bummer. i don't even want estimate the losses, but it ain't pretty.

But at least the show tonight is still going on thanks to good people letting them borrow some clean gear.

i'm gonna see if i can't come up a new online EP really damn quickly to maybe help get my friends cover repairs/new stuff. mind you i don't know how to do any of that, but i'm gonna see what i can learn here.
