<description>ORANGE COUNTY, CA – JUNE 16, 2009 – Steadily emerging as one of the industry’s most promising independent record labels, Southern California punk proprietors Old Shoe Records have teamed up for the second year with clothiers Lucky 13 Apparel to announce a final track listing for the widely popular Welcome To The Family Compilation that put the company on the map just three short years ago. With numbers reaching well over 50,000 units stretching across the US, the summertime tradition for the label has evolved into a staple for the punk rock community. Founder and label president Josh Stolo explains, “We all grew up listening to the Give ‘Em The Boot compilations we would score every summer during concert season. We wanted to introduce solid Old Shoe bands and include friends and bands we are fans of on the same CD in the same way.”
In addition to all new music from Old Shoe artists Far From Finished (covering The Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back”), Longway (title track to Junkie), as well as The Willkills and Sederra, the Old Shoe family branched out to include tracks from The Gaslight Anthem, Flatfoot 56, Death By Stereo, Duane Peters’ Gunfight, and Black President to name a few. A collection of 20 tracks with some of the genre’s most seasoned ensembles, Old Shoe also made room for some promising new prospects fresh to the public.
With thousands of copies flooding The Vans Warped Tour and extending into the concert year from the summer, Old Shoe is using the momentum of the compilation to shift their focus to a very worthy cause. Founder of the Vans Warped Tour Kevin Lyman’s Unite The United Organization is immersed nationally with local charities in every city of the tour. Encouraging fans to be punk and spare a buck, Welcome To The Family Vol.3 is 20 tracks for $1, with all profits going to Unite The United in an effort to give back on a grassroots level.
