<title>First Impressions: Motionless In White &quot;Infamous&quot;</title>
<link>http://www.absolutepunk.net/journal.php?do=showentry&amp;e=364592</link>

<description>I just listened to Motionless In White's new single &quot;Devil's Night&quot; and I am having a bit of a hard time figuring out what direction MIW is going in. Their debut album Creatures was a breath of fresh air in the hardcore genre with a creepy atmosphere and an overall great tone, setting the mood well. In this new song there is none of that. The harsh screams and synth are still their, but it just doesn't have that signature Motionless feel anymore. The band seems to have drawn major influences from bands such as Slipknot, but that just seems to have set the band backwards.

I read a quote from Chris and he says that the band did not want to make Creatures 2. That is fine, I think it is a good thing when bands want to evolve their sound from album to album. However, with that being said, they still need to keep what made them successful in the first place. &quot;Devil's Night&quot; just doesn't sound like a Motionless In White song. If they want to change, fine, let them change, I welcome it. This is changing for the worse though. They aren't being original anymore. They are taking a big step backwards and becoming more of a generalized &quot;screamo&quot; band.

Now obviously this is all based off of one song. The rest of the album may be totally off basis with my opinions and I hope it is. MIW is one of my favorite bands and I would love for them to continue to see huge amounts of success. I hope Infamous is more than I am expecting it to be. I will just have to wait and see. Although, from this new single, it doesn't sound like Motionless In White will be breaking any new ground with Infamous.

Infamous drops on November 13th via Fearless Records
