Browsing Album Reviews
Our album review database is extremely massive and grows daily. The video below will give you a quick walk through of the section -- including the "best new music" page and the "member consensus" best new music page.
Viewing an Album Review
When viewing an album review on AP.net there are a few tips to learn. The below video walks you through the basics of viewing an album review, adding the author as a friend (helpful to make sure you're notified of their new reviews), and rating an album yourself.
The Ratings System
Our rating system is based upon an author's subjective viewpoint. The scores of each section are averaged to give a final score. The "Reviewers Tilt" score is the author's overall feeling of the album that may not be reflected in the other scores.
Writing an Album Review
One of the features of being a member of our website is being able to write album reviews for our database. The user reviews are added to our database after being approved by a staff member. All of the reviews must follow our review format - you can find out more information about that format here. The video below will give you the basics to how to write an album review.
How do I get my CD reviewed?
In an attempt at being efficient and saving unnecessary postage costs, AP.net has a new system for review submissions. Rather than having you send us a copy, all you need to do is email reviews@absolutepunk.net some information in list form. The information that you send will be used to form the weekly mailbox listing that is posted each Monday. Then, the reviewers will request the CDs that they want from the list and a staff member will email you the contact information for the interested reviewer. All items are kept on the list for a year and the list is continually circulated among reviewers for that entire time, so you only have to submit your information once. Regardless of whether it is reviewed or not, you will still be getting the promotion from the listing.
Fill in this form and email it to reviews@absolutepunk.net:
1) band name:
2) name of CD / EP / vinyl / DVD:
3) release date:
4) web address to use as a link that can be seen by all users:
5) preferred genre classification:
6) home state (or country if not U.S.):
7) email address to use as a contact for when a CD is requested:
8) indicate if the release can be sent digitally:
