We're excited to premiere a brand new music video from Five Iron Frenzy for their song "Into Your Veins". It is without question one of the best songs the band has written, leaving no doubt that these guys can still bring it hard. Head to the replies to check it out, alongside a brief interview with drummer Andy Verdecchio. You can pick up the band's latest album, Engine of A Million Plots for $5 on iTunes.
We want to make a true concept album. A story.
Often times we'd discuss how fun it would be to do this, but we never followed through for several reasons. Fear of total commercial failure, the grandiose scope of the whole thing, the fact that it's not the 70's anymore and it's hard enough to hold someones attention for one song, let alone an entire album. But we believe that we've found a group of fans that are craving this very thing from us, and we are now inviting you to join us as we move forward into the next chapter of House of Heroes.
Why does America continue its blind support of this one-sided exercise in ethnic cleansing? WHY? I just don't get it. I really hate to think its just the power of AIPAC… for if that's the case, then your government really is fundamentally corrupt. No, I don't think that's the reason… but I have no idea what it could be. The America I know and like is compassionate, broadminded, creative, eclectic, tolerant and generous. All of you symbolise those things for me. But which America is backing this horrible one-sided colonialist war? I can't work it out: I know you're not the only people like...
Maybe we missed our big shot by not cashing in at the right time. Maybe we could have set our artistic pride aside and written the same record over and over again. Maybe we released too much music. Maybe we shouldn’t have been so accessible to our fan base. Maybe we could have picked a different record label or a different manager or changed our band name a few years in. You can question yourself forever, but it won’t change a thing. I like the choices we made. I like that we took risks and kept it real.
If you're not watching Nathan for You yet, at the very least Drew and I think you should get on that. Now, how do I turn this into a news post ... hit the replies to see an Of Mice and Men reference about 20 seconds in on a recent episode.
Hey everyone, as most of you know, I am a big supporter of the American Cancer Society. When it came to my attention that my best friend Jon Lyons was raising money for the American Cancer Society by running in the New York City marathon in honor of his dad (a cancer survivor), I thought when better a time than this to put the full weight of all of my amazing friends and fans behind such an awesome cause. Jon has been training relentlessly for this and I am super proud of him. For those of you who don’t know Jon, he is the drummer of the always amazing Zolof the Rock...
5 Seconds of Summer debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts -- moving 259,000 units. On last week's episode of the podcast we talked a lot about this band and record sales and if anyone would ever break the two million in one week mark again.
We are all musicians, and we get it. We've lived in a rank van on tour, slept in parking lots between shows, spent sleepless nights in the studio and have experienced the magic that happens onstage connecting with fans. We aren't just corporate dudes sitting in an office somewhere trying to slap someone’s logo on our product because we read a memo that said it was a good idea. We live and breathe the culture and lifestyle. We made it part of our entire brand—not just a marketing initiative.
Lagwagon have tagged a release date on their previously announced forthcoming LP Hang. It'll be out on October 28th. Hang will be Lagwagon's first new full-length album since 2005's Resolve. There is a video of the announcement, along with European tour dates, in the replies.
Steady Hands (Sean Huber of Modern Baseball's seven-piece folk-punk band) will release an EP called Brandy Of The Damned on August 19 via Lame-O Records. Check out a song from the release called "Pretty Good Year" on PropertyOfZack.com; additionally, the band recently announced a tour with W.C. Lindsay, and those dates are in the replies along with a press release.
I cannot admit to actually "knowing" Bradley Steyn. Yes, I am aware that he is South African and that he lives in Los Angeles, and that he has "walked off" three Morrissey tours - which really is his own business, not mine. My personal involvement with him has been zero, and he has certainly never been Head Of Security on any Morrissey tour.
I am aware of the false story he has placed on various news sites wherein he claims I asked him to "hurt" (kill?) David Tseng. Although Steyn's story lends itself to its own ridicule, I feel I must say to those who have not yet worked it out, that the story is a vexatious lie....
It's sad that this is becoming a daily thing now, but You Blew It! were burglarized last night in San Antonio, Texas. A slew of items were stolen from the band, so if you have some extra cash, pick up some clothes or some records. Or if you feel extra kind, the band is accepting donations as well. Head to the replies to see the full write up.
Yesterday something awful happened. Our van was robbed as it sat in a heavily trafficked parking lot in the middle of a hot, bright, San Antonio day. The lock on our rear passenger door was pried open, and our gear and personal items tossed into a Grey Chevy Suburban that drove away only minutes before we discovered that the following items were...
