Childish Gambino would like out of his record contract.
Glover went on to say that he wants another company—“Def Jam, Atlantic, whatever”—to buy him out of his contract, noting that Glassnote must not care about him because he’s “not loud, or outrageous, or a white girl with a big ass.” (Not that most of Glassnote’s other acts—Mumford & Sons, Chvrches, Little Green Cars, Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, etc.—are any of those things either.) Glover also maintains that the label has been lying to him, claiming that after he said, “I know how the Internet works,” to his label, they “laughed on the phone and said, ‘oh really?’”

Benny Horowitz, drummer for The Gaslight Anthem, breaks down the Yankees' season for Billboard's "Play Ball" series.
With a healthy team I don't see them not competing again for the for the A.L. East. I think Tampa’s real strong again and I think Boston is really strong again and you know they’re going to be right there in the mix at the end. I’m a Yankees fan. I gotta go for it -- of course they could win the World Series this year. Why not?

It's not always easy to see where you are supposed to go; a lot harder for some, but the choices we make hold weight not only for ourselves, but to those around us as well. Today marks 1 year since two seemingly "normal" brothers who grew up in Cambridge, MA made a choice. This song is about those choices.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep was not happy about getting a perfect score from Pitchfork for the re-release of Da Infamous. Dylan McCarthy at ToneDeaf takes a look at the entire situation:
He raises the question: should privileged middle-class white guys be commenting on rap music when they have no firsthand experience of the culture and the struggles and oppression that come with it – in other words, no credibility on the matter?

The AV Club has a long form article series about punk in the 90's, and today's article is about the year 1997. Bands discussed include a pre-fame Jimmy Eat World, a Glen Danzig-less Misfits and, of course, Blink-182. Good lunch time reading, for sure.
In 1997—as I was reminded the hard way at the Blink-182/Jimmy Eat World show at the Mercury—much of the punk scene was still fragmented, confused, and resistant to new things. Not for long, though. And a newfound willingness to evolve was about to hit the punk scene in an earth-shaking way.
