Make sure to follow me at @RyanGardnerC on Twitter or Instagram for random thoughts and reviews during the day before I recap them. Today Iíll be hanging out at the Charlie Says Fest that we are sponsoring to see Diamond Youth, Driver Friendly, Pup, Tiny Moving Parts, For The Foxes, and NGHBRS.
It's time again for our latest and greatest feature, AbsolutePlaylist, where one of us knuckleheads does a very little amount of work that seems impressive because it's a list! In this week's installment, I have created an ode to the poorly written word, a grouping of songs I turn to when I simply can't procrastinate any more and must just sit down and write something. Maybe you have the same dilemma, and maybe someone is always threatening to fire you because, in their words, "You aren't very good at writing for being a writer." Whatever your need, here are some songs.
I looked everywhere and came up with a ton of names, and the only name that really stuck in my mind was Night Windows. So, I decided to pay homage to one of my favorite bands (The Weakerthans) and name the band Night Windows after one of John K. Samson's most beloved songs.
London based artist, Sivu, recently released the official video for his fantastic single "Can't Stop Now" and today premiered a Jack Steadman (Bombay Bicycle Club) remix of the track. Hit the replies to check both of them out.
Just a friendly reminder to make sure you check us out on other social networks. We are on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Last.fm, and Rdio. The AP.net staff can also be found elsewhere online, this post highlights where. Show us some love.
Today we are streaming the recently released record from Michigan hardcore band Tall Tales. Nightlife is a throwback to 90's and early 2000's hardcore acts that will be sure to please older fans of the genre yet still be able to connect with the younger generation. Listen to the record in the replies. It is now available on Hotfoot Records.
People should listen to our band because we arenít dumbing down the music. I get that there needs to be the hooks and the repetition, but Iím blown away at the amount of music out there with no actual meaning. I think music has the power to heal people, and save lives, and I just hate to see some musicians wasting their opportunity to change lives with invaluable lyrics. Maybe their goal was strictly to make money, so in that case, congratulations for meeting your goals. No one is failing if they are reaching their goals I just have different ones.
Long-time drummer Longineu "LP" Parsons III has parted ways with Yellowcard. Said the band in a joint statement, "Longineu has decided to pursue other musical interests. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors." A replacement has not been announced but the band has begun work on their next album.
I think we went with Happiness Is because itís kind of a blanket statement about where the band is right now. We were much more comfortable writing with each other this time around and there wasnít any kind of outside influence as we were writing and recording. I think it just speaks a lot to where Taking Back Sunday is right now.
I'm blown away by this week's Quiet Country Audio Session with Buffalo, NY's Cedar Kites. The band is damn fantastic and for fans of Balance & Composure and Title Fight. I bet good money this band will become a site favorite in due time. You can grab the audio on Bandcamp. Check out the videos in the replies.
This year at SXSW, I'm providing daily recaps of the festival. Here's the recap from a small part of Tuesday but mainly Wednesday. Make sure to come back every day to read recaps of the rest of the days. Make sure to follow me at @RyanGardnerC on Twitter or Instagram for random thoughts and reviews during the day before I recap them. Today Iím planning to spend the afternoon alternating between the Topshelf Showcase and Equal Vision/Pure Noise showcase. Iím hopefully seeing The 1975 at the MTV Woodies tonight.
Today, we're premiering a brand new song from heavy-hitters ...Of Sinking Ships (featuring former members of Hopesfall and HRVRD). "Shifting Only With The Winds" is a graceful post-rock anthem off of the band's upcoming album, The Amaranthine Sea. Check it out in the replies and pre-order it at Broken Circles.
I love all the asshole BS that goes on. when you find someone to work with that is also a fan and friend it makes the journey that much more enjoyable. A band is usually only as big as they are good. That part isn't up to the industry. We're not that big now for a reason, we're not as good as we're going to be. Although, I'd like to stop hearing so many people say they know 'how the music industry is these days' but that's not something the industry can change.
Upon our return from Warped Tour Australia, Steve made us aware of possible allegations that might be made against him. At that point, not knowing all the details, we made the decision to part ways in order for him to deal with these personal issues. Us 4 members of New Found Glory have given our entire lives to this band and will continue to do so. Weíve been able to play all over the world for the most amazing fans. We can't wait to get in the studio to make a new album and we can't wait to get back on the road! Just coming off the Parahoy cruise and a surprise show in our hometown we are more inspired than ever! Thank you so much...
It is a difficult challenge to defend oneself in the media when there is a pending criminal case. This is because people are quick to assume that if a person is charged with a crime, they are also guilty as charged. And it is especially difficult because criminal defense attorneys insist that their clients not talk about the case to ensure that their constitutional rights are protected. Furthermore, attorneys are limited by law as to what can and cannot be said about a case to the public.
In the matter of Steve Klein, since his case has now been brought...
Man Overboard vocalist/guitarist Zac Eisenstein has a new solo project called Farpoint. His debut EP, Think About the Future, is available for stream on Lost Tape Collective, where you can also purchase physical and digital copies.
You can stream a new Seahaven song titled "Love To Burn" at Impose. It's one of my favorite songs off the band's stunning new album, Reverie Lagoon: Music For Escapism Only, which hits stores on March 25th.
Idobi has learned and reported that Steve Klein (ex-New Found Glory) was "arraigned (on December 12, 2013) in a San Luis Obispo court on multiple charges, including lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 14" and has pleaded not guilty.
Pure Noise Records has signed No Bragging Rights. They were the first band to sign to the label back in 2009, and now they're teaming up again. They'll enter the studio next month with producer Will Putney to record a new album.
Today we're excited to premiere the video for Fourth And Goal's single "Chutes And Ladders." It comes from the upcoming 4-way split with Knockout Kid, No Tide, and Traditions. The humorous and satirical video pokes fun at 80's hair metal videos so check it out in the replies. The split is available for purchase.
Joe Chang of Gold Light took some time to answer our random interview. His answers can be found here.
Also it seems like early on a lot of those traveling band guys approached touring as like grinding it out, it had to be done to get their music out there, and there's something fascinating to me about that. Like being a rock musician was like punching a clock, and it was approached with this sense of a workingman's ethic, not celebrity or whatever, I like the honor in that. I mean, it still happens, it just seems like it was different back then.
